New Supreme Court Nominees?

Posted on 11/03/2004 6:43:18 AM PST by Bluegrass Federalist

It looks like Bush will get the chance to nominate hopefully at least a couple of SCOTUS justices. Does the Daschle loss break the filibuster? Even if not, I don't think the Rats can sustain a filibuster of a SCOTUS nominee.

I would like to see Estrada renominated for the Court of Appeals, if not SCOTUS. Justice Janice Rogers Brown would be a tremendous nominee as well.

I would love a Chief Justice Scalia, but that would be a battle. So be it, IMO.

I hope Bush renominates all of the filibustered judges, especially Estrada.

Keep in mind that President Bush will never have to run for another election. With the main stream media all but in the pocket of the Democrat, some of his decisions have had to have been influenced by his need for re-election.

That has been removed.

Add into the equation the fact that he also won over 50% of the popular vote gives him a mandate of sorts.

President Bush tried to work with the other side and what has it gotten him? Nothing, not even civility from the Kennedys, when it would have cost them nothing to at least be civil.

The power to nominate judges is perhaps the most lasting effect any President has over the direction this country goes. I say the hell with being Mr. Nice guy, and push for judges that will follow the Consitution as written and not look for hidden meaning.

President Bush has the polictical capital, now is the time to spend it.

El Rushbo, in his 4th hour for EIB subscribers, said that he EXPECTS Clarence Thomas to be nominated to replace Scalia, to see if the dims dare shoot down the first black Chief Justice. That would let us see how conciliatory the dims really are.

Rush went on to suggest that Thomas should do well since all his dirty laundry has been shown.

Bork said there's no individual right to keep and bear arms - so no way.

My picks
Judges Stephen Markman, Robert Young, Cliff Taylor and Maura Corrigan.

The majority bloc of strict constitutionist on the Michigan Supreme Court.

Does the Daschle loss break the filibuster?

Not with the A-1 A-hole obstructionist Chuckie Scummer getting re-elected.
