New Supreme Court Nominees?
Posted on 11/03/2004 6:43:18 AM PST by Bluegrass Federalist
It looks like Bush will get the chance to nominate hopefully at least a couple of SCOTUS justices. Does the Daschle loss break the filibuster? Even if not, I don't think the Rats can sustain a filibuster of a SCOTUS nominee.
I would like to see Estrada renominated for the Court of Appeals, if not SCOTUS. Justice Janice Rogers Brown would be a tremendous nominee as well.
I would love a Chief Justice Scalia, but that would be a battle. So be it, IMO.
I hope Bush renominates all of the filibustered judges, especially Estrada.

He will have a hard time hearing cases from the White House after 2008.

I think Justice Janet Rogers Brown is the perfect choice. How could anyone challenge a Black single mother jurist whose child attends a public university? There are other good choices, such as Wilkinson. I don't think there is a Hispanic candidate that would pass scrutiny. I think there has to be more seasoning on the CCA before an Hispanic is confirmed to the Court.
That said my prayers are with the Chief.

We need Bork and Ken Starr!!
Also, I have a feeling that Ted Olsen might have some "private assurances" of serious consideration.

Kerry's negatives were astronomical, too... and it was (is?) a squeaker.

Chief Justice Thomas sounds about right to me. Thomas is a very very good justice.

This is probably one of the most important benefits of winning this election.. I think Bush will appoint at least 3 judges over the next 4 years (replace Rehnquist, O'Connor, and Stevens).

(My days of taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle)
the supreme court nominations are definitely one of the biggest prizes that comes with this election, and most likely this, tied with the gay marriage issue, is one of the reasons Christians got out to vote, many pastors brought up the importance of marriage and the sup court nominees expected during the next 4 years
with the rumors about kerry nominating hillary clinton to the sup court if he had been elected, i see no problem with bush putting in someone who is seen as a conservative....just hope the dems don't block all the nominees forever /have a great day. rejoice and be glad in it

Y'all are gonna think I am nuts, but I would love to see...
John Kerry nominated.
They would drag his sorry butt through the mud and expose him for the traitor that he is.
He would stand NO chance, but payback is a bitch.
