lawn of golden jewels" could describe the Houston Ship Channel engulfed in flames

Since I'm not that familiar with the fine state of Texas, I assume the Houston Ship Channel is in Houston? Do oil tankers pass through there, or, what exactly is it?

Thanks, and I apologize for my lack of Houston knowledge.

Houston Ship Channel gives commercial vessels access to the port of Houston. I've been there a few times, but I've never seen the channel myself. Brownsville has been devastated in the past by accidents, but I don't know their current level of protection against such things.

Actually, lawn could be short for lawn cloth and golden jewels could be encrusted in the lawn cloth. How poetic.
