Havana (dpa) - Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter and Bartholomew I, the patriarch of the Orthodox Church, have sent Cuban leader Fidel Castro get-well wishes after his bone-breaking fall, the Cuban state-run media said Tuesday.
In a letter printed in the official Granma newspaper, Carter said he and his wife, Rosalynn, had been concerned about the news of Castro's fall on October 20 but were relieved that his injuries were not grave. Carter said he and his wife were praying for his recovery.
Carter visited Cuba in May 2002 on the first trip by a U.S. president there since the imposition of the U.S. trade embargo in 1961. He met with dissidents and also called on the Cuban regime to allow a referendum on political change on the island, which never came about.
Castro, 78, smashed a kneecap and fractured an arm two weeks ago when he fell while stepping down from a podium. He underwent surgery to the knee.
Bartholomew I, who visited Cuba in January, also sent blessings and prayers ``and the loving protection of God Almighty'' to the leader of Cuba, which was once officially atheist, but now secular.
Jimmy Carter is a disgrace to Georgia and to the USA.

But I wouldn't let him TOUCH any of the vintage US auto's they have down there. He'd screw them up and when Castro goes, those are going to be in restoration heaven!

Have you also sent get well wishes to the ailing General Pinochet?
Pinochet killed far fewer people than Castro; he didn't allow his territory to be used as a launch pad for nuclear missiles against the U.S.; and he didn't confiscate billions in U.S. property.
Since you, in your Nobel Laureate glow are so wise, you ought to be able to discern the fact that Pinochet is a far better person than Castro.
So, write the note, Jimma.

Just proves what a blind idiot Carter is. To pray for a man who keeps 20,000,000 imprisoned in a "worker's paradise". I'm surprised Ted Turner hasn't made CNN run hourly updates on the condition of the fearless leader.
Carter should move to Cuba already. Getting sick of that tool running his mouth.
"Wish Carter would retire there and build habitats in Cuba instead of the US. He'd be happier, we'd be happier, they'd improve their housing."
