This seems to be the format everyone else is using as far as title.
My wife waited until 11 to try and miss the rush. We're
in Great Falls which is a small town and very Republican.
In 10 years, we've never seen more than a 15 minute wait.
This morning it was an hour and 15 minutes.
Go Dubya!
Sorry, got a little excited there. Back to normal now hee hee.
Voted at 6:30AM in Blacksburg. No line at all.
Wasn't turnout really heavy in 1992? Or was that 1994?
I gotta go now and relieve my wife who is teaching study hall at a home school enrichment center, so she can go do the poll watching. I feel sorry for any dems that try any shenanigans while she is on watch ;) I'll check back on FR later before I go to my second job.
There were 2 Democrat volunteers handing out literature in the parking lot. Both were approx. 60 yrs old Black guys. Very polite and not pushy at all. We really don't have nutty liberals around these parts.

Richmond excellence in voting:
"... early voters at Virginia Union University cast ballots in the wrong congressional race until the error was discovered and the correct ballot was entered into one of the voting machines.
"Once it was discovered about 6:10, 6:15 [a.m.], people were offered a paper ballot," said Virginia Board of Elections executive secretary Jean Jensen. "I think the unknown is how many votes were cast before that happened."
Initially, the mechanical voting machine listed the candidates in the 7th congressional district instead of the 3rd. The rest of the ballot was correct, election officials said."
Yeah, it was 1994, the Contract With America. That one took all the pundits by surprise.
The Mrs. went to vote before me. While she was there, someone in line was asked for his ID and he yelled, "You're violating my rights! I'm being intimidated here!"
He went ahead and voted after a few people in line told him to "shut up".
Nothing eventful happened when I went to vote.
Voted for Thelma here. Either way it goes, I miss Schrock. He was good for this area.
Dh got to the polls in Haymarket when they opened (6:00 a.m.) and had to wait more than an hour. I got there at 9:30 and waited about 45 mins. Saw only one person take a sKerry flyer.
Hey DoctorMichael -
I'm here in C-Ville too (voted absentee though because my permanent residence/registration is in northern Virginia). As far as colleges go, UVA isn't especially liberal, so I wouldn't be too concerned. Actually, I've seen quite a few "Vote Bush"/"Vote Goode" chalkings on the sidewalks near the University, and none so far for Kerry.
The November 2, 2004 Election Results will be reported at http://sbe.vipnet.org/
"Report pages will be available beginning at 7:00 PM November 2, 2004
The site will be updated continuously as results are posted by the local registrars."
My wife and I voted about 8:30, Sherry Park precinct in Va Beach. Steady voting, not much of a line. Two votes from my household for GWB and Thelma Drake!!
Agreed.
......so I wouldn't be too concerned.
I'm not. I'm just in a VERY liberal department! *LOL*
Schools are closed today because somany schools are polling stations. I think that is a shame, kids need to be exposed to the process at a young age so that the respect the importance of voting.
...voted in Arlington, VA this morning at 8:20am. The line was the longest I have ever seen. This is the Arlington Courthouse area in the shadow of DC. By the time the line snaked around the elementary school and through the gym, it was after 10am so it was nearly 2 hours.
People looked determined, respectful, young, well dressed and employed. I did not see any African Americans at all. A few hispanics and asians were there but the rest were white professionals. The whole affair was quiet, orderly and respectful like communion on Sunday.
If anyone needs a ride to the polls in the Hampton Roads area, please let me know. A group of us will give any Republican a ride that needs it.
Thanks!
