Precinct 31M in West Sunrise. Got caught in the morning rush before work. Probably a mostly Kerry crowd, but I suspect a lot of W folk in there. Easy in and out. Only had to wait 40 minutes. No problems.
I voted straight Republican, my wife voted straight Democrat.
But we love each other.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
In Florida, the black population is becoming more and more Haitian. Haitians like Bush far more than American blacks. I went to a Bush rally in Broward--where there are many Haitians-- and there was a young kid wearing a "Haitians for Bush" t-shirt. I think Kerry's comments about wanting to Keep Aristide could potentially hurt him with Haitian Americans.
Haitian Americans are generally hard working people. They are trending Republican. Recently on Hannity, there was a Haitian cabbie who had a run in with an illiberal passenger because he was a Bush guy. The guy was classic. He said even in his dreams he was voting for Bush.
God, I hope a good portion of the Haitians go for Bush tpday in Fla.
Call the police. They'll take care of it.
What they're doing is illegal.
In and out in under ten minutes in Coconut Creek, not fantasizing about Broward County going Bush, but lots of Bush activity around...it was nice to see it.
People bitching in line about the fact that yesterday's early voters could vote again today because books weren't updated.
Looking into that.
Speaking of Castor, it looks like the republicans will pick up a net gain of at least 2 senate seats and do no worse than break even in the house. That means that, even if Kerry does win, he won't be able to get much done with the congress firmly in republican hands.
I am still hopeful, however, about Pres. Bush's chances. Fred Barnes was on the Fox morning show and he said those weekend polls are meaningless. He said that Fox's own poll that showed Kerry up by 2% overall also showed Kerry leading among men. Barnes cited that as proof that the poll was screwy and he said Fox shoud have realized that and thrown it out.
I hope all the reports about Bush's base being more energized than Kerry's turn out to be true.
I cant say what happening in Florida but I voted in Georgia already this morning and everyone ive talked to at the polls say they are or have voted for Bush! Oh there was one Kerry supporter i ran into and he said he hated to vote for a loser. Love that Dem optimism.
Wish i had a residence in Florida. Id have about a hundred roommates from Georgia down on election day.
Went to vote at 9:45 this morning......NW Seminole County. Took 10 minutes. No problems. Go W!
Yes but he thought martinez was a mean spirited man...oh well...at least W won their vote.
So it sounds like the NAACP folks are there to strong arm their brothers into waiting in long lines to vote.
What the hell kind of excuse is that?
I've watched you argue for years, and if she ain't switched, you're letting her off the hook.
Please don't tell me you're falling for the old (in sotto voce) "you have your opinions, and I have mine" trick.
Report from daughter.
South Miami (Dade County) precinct 62.
50ish squatty man in panama hat and beige shorts had no ID.
He pitched a fit, threatened to sue, etc.
They let him vote.
No - working class older lower middle class neighborhood - mixed on the politics
bump!
Okay, here's my unexciting voting story.
10:20 left the house
10:25 arrived at polling place...nobody outside, just
signs from various candidates, looked like there was
one sign for each candidate
10:27 entered polling place, reminded to turn off my
cell phone and nice lady at door tells me I'll need
ID, (she didn't mention the possibility of voting
provisional ballot...but my precinct is run by all
older democratic black women...and they're very
efficient..so if I'd balked about the ID, I'm sure
she would have directed me to the lady that heads
up the poll workers
10:35 poll worker took my ID, checked my name, signature,
and address against her rolls, activated my card
10:37 there were 10 machines and 7 people ahead of me in
line, but the Florida ballot is so darn long that it
takes people a long time to vote
10:45 Directed to a vacated machine by a poll worker, took
out my cheatsheet (sample ballot), voted, checked
over my choices.
10:50 Left the polling place
10:55 I'm home
(This detailed minute by minute account is my tribute to Bob Graham's retirement from the Senate, LOL)
I'm in an integrated precinct, heavily Dem, only about 30 people in there voting right now. Only one Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker in the parking lot.
Another funny thing was that when I went out to drive over, I realized my husband had taken my car to work, my son had taken our other car to college classes, and I was left with the 20 year old Ford F-150 with Bush/Cheney signs on the bumper sticker to drive over to the polling place (I think my car looked a little out of place among the "nice" cars in the parking lot.)
All in all, no problems, everybody pleasant, poll watchers there, a lady from the Sheriff's office was directing the people where to stand in line.
Go W.
Here's what I said on another thread:
I voted this a.m. in what is apparently a heavily black Democratic precinct. Had a lovely chat with the attorney on watch there for anyone being turned away from voting, or having problems with voting -- that's for BOTH parties. Yeah, right. If I'd known he was going to be there, I would have asked a few more pointed questions. He asked me if I had any trouble voting. I said, no, I know how to vote. I vote in every election. He was going to expound upon his job, and I said, yeah, yeah, I know who you are. I'm an attorney too. I should have said, I know the drill, claim trouble with voting even if there wasn't any.
I voted this morning (0930) in Tallahassee, FL at the Baptish Church, there was a full house but no lines..rto
btw, EVEN THOUGH THE DEMS' [W]HORDES OF METROSEXUALS WILL DELEDALLY THE CLIMAX,
PRESIDENT BUSH WILL WIN BECAUSE HE IS CONSISTENT IN HIS DECISIONS, EARNED AN HONORABLE DISCHARGE, PROVEN UNDER FIRE AND CAN BE TRUSTED
Naaa ..... let's fine them to the hilt and then confiscate the material they used in committing the crime - their house!!!!!
