In closing, prosecutor says parenthood pushed Scott Peterson to kill
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Scott Peterson killed his pregnant wife because fatherhood threatened his "fantasyland" double life as a "rich, successful, freewheeling bachelor," a prosecutor told jurors during closing arguments Monday in his capital murder trial.
Prosecutor Rick Distaso said the fertilizer salesman strangled or smothered his 27-year-old spouse, Laci, in their home on Dec. 23 or Dec. 24, 2002, so he could be free of the lifetime of responsibilities the child would bring.
"He didn't want adult married life. He didn't want Conner Peterson," Distaso said, referring to the child Laci Peterson was carrying.
The prosecutor said Peterson had long maintained two lives "the perfect husband" in public and in private, a cad grudgingly tolerating his marriage but the birth of his first child and the expense of raising the boy or paying child support jeopardized the secret side he treasured.
Story continues .......
I have no idea........spreading rumors.
IT LOOKS LIKE DEAD LOCK
Well at least it will not be Not Guilty and with a retrail the prosecution may be able to get more evidence.
The juoror seems to not be deliberating..made up mind and that's that!..Not harsh enough instruction to say deadlocked for sure...too early..
American's love their individuality psychologist says and yet in jury room must work , share ideas, look at another view..be willing to discuss.
Juror $6 speculation, of course..The whole thing is speculation..sigh.
Juror#6
If he is blatantly refusing to deliberate he can be replaced. It's a stretch but it happens.
Juror #6 was the man looking at his nails throughout the trial and didn't seem phased with the entire proceeding. Wonder if he's the one who befriended Juror #5.
yes
Hope this doesn't drag on and on as one juror is due for elective surgery on Friday and court is closed on Thursday. My wish is for a verdict rendered by Wednesday and the return of the jurors to discuss the death penalty phase next week.
I wonder how Laci's mother is doing through all this.
Prayers for Sharon!!
Surely there are jurors who would be so sure he did it that they wouldn't fold and say not guilty, they'd let it be a deadlock because they'd know he would be tried again at least.
Judge Deluchi says to keep an open mind and keep on deliberating.
Judge is supposed to be addressing the jury any time now...maybe we'll know more then.
I have a question. If it comes out a hung jury, and they retry Scott, if anymore evidence is found after this trial, say the anchors, skull, etc. would they be able to use those items in a retrial?
I think that's yes, they can do it all different the next time around.
This is just me..but I have thought all along that Justin (#5) has been in contact with #6 all along. Don't know why I thought that...but I have.
And for the life of me, why O why do they keep interviewing that nob?

Hi RG - You know what? Judge Delucchi has had emails about Juror #6 discussing the case with Justin buddy and his girlfriend, plus this guys attitude etc. He should have REMOVED him before now. The local lawyers say that Delucchi will do everything possible to avoid a mistrial. IF this is the guy, and it would appear to me that he's the one that displayed the disinterest in the case and interest in his fingernails only, then he should be replaced period.
