NRO KERRY SPOT: Word From The Master Of The Master (Qui-Gon Jinn)
NRO: The Kerry Spot ^ | November 1, 2004 | Jim Geraghty

WORD FROM THE MASTER OF THE MASTER

Had a second, follow-up conversation with Obi-Wan. This evening, he had spoken to his teacher/mentor, a longtime GOP strategist who played a key role in two victorious Republican presidential campaigns. (I guess the appropriate nickname for Obi-Wan's teacher would be Qui-Gon Jinn.)

Qui-Gon is not typically prone to optimism about a typical Republican’s chances on Election Day. But when Obi-Wan asked him for his assessment of Bush’s chances tomorrow, his answer came quickly and confidently.

“Bush will win, pretty decisively,” Qui-Gon said. “Maybe, worst case scenario, it's 51-49 [percent]. But everyone has looked at how the voters will decide too cerebrally. You walk into that voting booth, you pull the curtain behind you, and you’re alone. It’s the centerpiece of our democratic process, and voters take that responsibility seriously. It’s almost a religious experience, a sacred rite. And they’re going to go with who’s going to keep them safe. Who’s been tested. It’s an emotional, gut reaction.”

(These quotes are paraphrased, via Obi-Wan.)

I am not sure that I completely agree with this assessment, but if Obi-Wan has been around politics as long as I've been alive, Qui-Gon has been around almost twice that. Between them, they have seen a lot of campaigns and a lot of elections, and have spent a lot of time figuring out what influences the voting decisions of the American public.

Draw your own conclusions.

This better dang well happen or I'll be very angry at being fed false hope. I'd rather have the real truth even if it's bad, then rosy predictions.

Agred. 51-49 minimum. I think 55%+. War is serious, Kerry is not.

If Kerry wins, we are witnessing the beginning of the end of a great experiment of democracy.

Look around; Americans have been fattened up and dumbed down.

Almost half the country has been dumbed down by 40 years of moral relativism.

Half of the country was outraged by 9/11 and became determined to fight this war to the end. The other half shrugged it off as no big deal, and began looking for some way to return to 9/10. To them, Kerry is Mr. 9/10.

WHAT KIND OF AMERICA DO WE TRULY HAVE NOW

This tremendously important question will be answered in 24 hours and the answer just may be one we refuse to believe.

I agree - and tomorrow we will find out what kind of America we really live in today -

Our mettle is about to be tested as a Nation - We will all see "openly" how we respond as a Nation.

I believe we will stand TALL.

And if we don't respond by standing tall with strength I know I will literally have the wind knocked out of my soul for this Country.

---Don't say that to Jim or he'll be pissed. I sent off an email to him today basically saying the same thing you just said and he sent a sharp reply and then included it in his rebuttal on KerrySpot about all the panic emails he received about his early morning scare and he used my phrases.

Maybe I should get John Edwards to sue LOL

Well, I was going to say accept it at face value, i.e. a very likely Bush win, and get a good night's sleep. But after I thought about it tomorrow, you might want to ponder whether they really ARE just rosy predictions. That should have you counting sheep tonight.

Yep. This is what I've been saying.

The only thing that will cut through the fog of MSM propaganda is the silence of that voting booth. Reality-check.

We'll find out tomorrow if right.

A caller to WBAP, Dallas/Fort Worth, voiced almost this exact experience earlier today. His father-in-law voted last week in New Mexico. He was a committed Democrat and intended to vote for Kerry.

But, as he told his son-in-law, he got in the booth...and just couldn't bring himself to do it. He was poised to vote for Kerry, but he hesitated...and he thought "I just...don't...trust the guy".

He marked the presidential ballot for Bush, voted Democrat for every other race on the ticket...and left, relieved.

After being a wreck all day, I am at peace tonight. I will be proudly pulling the lever for the man who truly loves the Lord and this Nation. The man whose resolve steered us through horror and catastrophe, and whose moral compass stays straight even in the turmoil. And millions more will be pulling the lever for that man. And we will win.
