Athletes for Bush
POWERLINE ^ | October 31, 2004 | Powerline

Earlier today, former Cincinnati Reds catcher Johnny Bench introduced President Bush at a rally at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati:

In Cincinnati, I have to think Bench's endorsement is worth some votes. President Bush has gotten some striking athletic endorsements--Bench, John Elway, Curt Schilling, and quite a few others--while, as far as I know, Kerry has gotten none. Maybe that's why Kerry is so obsessive about throwing balls around at airports.

Now, if only the Bush campaign could land Brett Favre...

UPDATE: Hah! It's true what they say about Karl Rove. Dusty Tryggestad writes:

Actually, my mom recieved a recorded message from Brett Favre supporting Bush. Reference was made to today's win vs the Redskins. I would imagine this is playing all over Wisconsin. I think this could make the difference in Wisconsin. I mean, really.

Dear Fellow FReepers:

BE OPTIMISTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am predicting a Bush landslide. I think Bush will take PA early on so we can all savor the returns.

I believe Bush will take over 340 Electoral Votes.

I predict that Kerry will wait until Wednesday at the earliest to concede despite overwelming evidence that he lost.

In other words, he, KERRY, will be a loser at the start and finish of this election.

If you do not believe me then I ask this question to all the great people I've met in this forum over the past several weeks.

"Would you stand in line 6 hours to vote "against" a candidate, or would you be more inclined to stand in line, even in the rain, to vote "for" someone?"

I see in those lines of early voters in Florida and Ohio alot of people with children and older folk. I cannot believe that these people are there to vote "against" a man who, if nothing else, has not wavered in his resolve since 9/11.

To the contrary I believe these people are standing in line out of respect for our troops and President. I think it's their silent and personal way of showing their support.

I also think that, like many of us here, they are scared at what might happen to us if Kerry is elected.

My friends THE POLLS ARE WRONG!!!! DO NOT DESPAIR!!!

I am predicting a Bush landslide, because I believe in the goodness of the American people and I cannot believe that the majority of voters in this country "hate our president."

ALSO, in the history of this country in a time of war, the incumbent has always won. AS IT SHOULD BE!!!!!!

May God bless this country and all of you at FR. It's been fun.

Sincerely,

Nick

PS-Head coach Mike Tice of the Vikings introduced the President in Minnesota over the weekend.

Not to be nit picky, but the boxer who beat Roy Jones Jr. endorsed Kerry a few weeks ago. I don't know if Jeff Gordon has come out of the closet (no pun intended) to endorse kerry.

I agree. We should all be proud of our president. I, for one, cannot believe that when it comes down to voting that the majority American people are naive and stupid.

All of us here have seen through Kerry's phoniness from day one. I think went it comes to voting the people of this country will vote for the best man. Bush may not be perfect, but do we ever vote for perfection in anything, whether it be for a candidate or a spouse?

We take the best of each other and accept that.

Kerry is an opportunist who has only one agenda, and that being, to be president. He has no background or gumption for the job.

He has never held a job or committed himself to anything but mediocrity, and that includes the people he has married and associated with and his votes in Congress.

REAL MEN going for Bush. Hollywood pantywaists and ultra-lib, under-educated, lip-syncing rock stars for Kerry. Is it any wonder?

Hey, Kerry has Julie Foudy and the Red Sox owners on his side! Isn't that enough? ;)

I agree. The Rats keep removing pro-Bush bumper stickers from my, my husbands, and several friends cars! Sorry to say that the last one removed from my husband's car was the Arnold "Don't be a girlie man - vote Bush" one. I especially liked that one.

These people are beneath contempt. They whine about everything, possess no positive vision for the future, want to protect free speech only when the speakers agree with them, and don't give a darn about our troops. I pray for a Bush landslide to shut their traps up!!

Steve Mariucci (Lions Coach) introduced Bush at Marquette.
Bill Laimbeer (Former Pistons and current WNBA Shock coach) introduced him at Farmington Hills.
Bo Schembechler (U-M icon) endorsed him
Chris Spielman (Former Lions star) endorsed him

Bo's is the biggest name there and could matter. Probably not as much in Ann Arbor, but out in the Detroit Area.

In Cincinnati, I have to think Bench's endorsement is worth some votes.

Among Log Cabin Republicans, for sure.

The Racin' Petty's are behind Bush. I was at the Petty race shop the 23rd of October and noticed he had a Bush-Cheney sticker on one of the windows in the shop. Later in the day, I ran into Kyle's son Austin, he had on a Bush-Cheney hat.

NASCAR dads rule (take that Kerry.)

Chris Spielman (Former Lions star) endorsed him

I was at Nationwide Arena in Columbus for the Bush rally and Spielman introduced the President.

Maybe Bench is OK for Cincy - but nowhere else. Everytime I see him the question comes up in my mind - When did he stop beating his wife? Just like any good feeling for OJ went years before the killings cause he was smacking his wife around.
