Genghis Khan -- Kerry's pronouciation -- was this scripted by the Viet Cong? Vanity

My husband and I spent a Happy Halloween watching Stolen Honor and Confronting Iraq, making the prospect of a President Kerry much scarier than anything Hammer Horror pictures might have thought up.

One curious thing struck us as we watched “Stolen Honor” about the junior senator’s comments to the Senate hearing – they seemed identical with the confessions the North Vietnamese tortured out of the POWs. It seemed to me an odd coincidence that Kerry might have come up with this language himself. And musing on the timeline ( not brought out in the documentary), it seemed to me much more likely that Kerry was given a script when he met the two Communist delegations in Paris, and this script – the Vietcong version – was what he memorized and delivered in true Manchurian candidate style to the Senate Committee. The two clues come in Kerry’s comparing the American troops conduct in Vietnam to that of the Mongols under Genghis Khan. The first is that this particular Mongol is not the usual barbarian savage of choice for Westerners – we tend to think of Attila the Hun who came pretty close to conquering the West. Remember Kaiser Wilhelm’s exhorting the force he sent to China to help suppress the Boxer rebellion to behave “as the Huns under Attila”? Hence the term used by England and the Americans for the Germans -- "Huns". China defeated the Huns and that is why they went West. However, the Mongols under Genghis Kahn conquered China and Southeast and Central Asia. It is this Kahn who is still remembered today!

The second clue is in Kerry’s pronunciation which I think everyone has commented on of the name “Genghis”. We always pronounce the second “g” as a hard “g”, not as a “j”. If my memory serves me, Kerry's pronunciation is how the Chinese pronounce Genghis Khan since the Chinese do not have a hard "g". Perhaps this is how it is pronounced in Vietnamese.

There seemed to me given the position of many Democrats on Vietnam, very little to get upset about for a Kerry supporter in “Stolen Honor” – it’s all old news, albeit presented in a very stark and gripping context. However, the possibility that Kerry was literally giving the Communist message to the Senate seems to me to be something that takes a lot more explaining. Is this what Kerry’s supporters fear – do they know something we do not?

There never was a communist who was not a hero of Kerry's.

It seems like a stretch, but it's worth checking into.

No doubt in my mind that Effing is a commie (or, more likely, a useful socialist idiot), but I don't think you need to go to far into the bush looking for clues. Don't forget that he was educated in Switzerland and grew up in a residence in France steeped in anti-American sentiment. He is as close to you or me or any middle-American as the East is to the West. There is no question that he is an international elitist of the first order, but his aping other cultures shouldn't be too much of a surprise.

I always thought it was his pomposity and European education that had him pronouncing it in such an unAmerican way.

In any case, he's clearly in the enemy's camp in any given US conflict.

If my memory serves me, Kerry's pronunciation is how the Chinese pronounce Genghis Khan since the Chinese do not have a hard "g".

The Chinese have a hard 'g'. The name for China is Zhong guo. The 'g' in 'guo' is a hard 'g'. I remember at least this much from first year Mandarin Chinese.

Kerry is a commie. Another word that means commie is progressive. A progressive agenda is actually a backwards agenda for freedom and democracy.

thus we have a sKerry situation and a Backwards agenda.

cough.

I recently saw a documentory on Gengis Khan on the history channel and every single historian on the show pronounced the name the same way Kerry did.

Whatever the case, John F. Kerry is a disgrace. He is now doing the same thing he did 30 years a go....he is undermining the war effort that we are now in with his words and deeds. He will sell out the American soldier anytime that it suits his needs. That is the bottom line.

Just heard on a G Gordon Liddy replay that kerry's top secret security clearance was revoked due to his involvement with the North Vietnamese commmunists in Paris. Truly biazrre that President Bush's National Guard service would be so highly scrutinized and nothing about kerry's seurity clearance. This is substantially more than a slap on the wrist

In 1988 the good comrade, patrick leahy was removed from the Senate Intelligence Committee for leaking secrets he thought would be harmful to President Reagan's administration. Perhaps this is why carter had kerry's discharge changed to an honorable, for without it he could never sit on house or senate military or intelligence committees

A reference to Genghis Khan is also made in the movie "Casualties of War," (1989) starring Sean Penn and Michael J. Fox. The movie depicts several U.S. soldiers involved in various Kerry-style atrocities such as razing villages, capturing a Vietnamese girl, raping, and later killing her.

The movie was based on a 1969 article by Daniel Lang. Perhaps there is some connection between Kerry, Lang and the movie. At any rate, the Genghis Khan quote is probably not Kerry's originally. He very likely stole it from someone else.

By the way, the Chinese do have a "hard g" as in "Gansu," a province in China. The Chinese pronunciation for Genghis Khan is "Cheng ji si han." (Mandarin).
