When the Rev. Tony Hansberry, senior pastor, introduced Edwards during the church's 7:45 a.m. service, it was with reference to Nehemiah, the Old Testament hero praised for rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.
"There's a Nehemiah among us, one who comes to help us build the walls," Hansberry said.

At First Baptist, the Rev. Jerry Vines introduced Reed, who quickly stated he was not attending church to promote President Bush.
"I'm not here today on behalf of any other candidate than the Lord Jesus Christ," said Reed, who praised Vines and the church, and then returned to his seat.

What a title! We didn't hear any discussion of politics in church. Wonder if the FTU is showing bias? 3 pics from the AME church and 'none' from FBC hmmmmm.....

I understand that "Senator Gone" will not win re-election in his own home state. Too many broken promises and absenteeism.
One can only hope.

He didn't bother running again.
Burr and Dole will be the NC senatorial delegation in 2005.

Democrats, LLL, and MSM just don't get what's going on with the conservative christians in this country. I am not talking about nut-job snake-handling, creationists here. I'm refering to a much broader group comprising both protestants and catholics. The Christian Conservatives include: Lutherans, Church of Christ, Baptists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Methodists, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists and more...Chistians from small congregational churches all the way up to lock-step papists. These people are seeing their own institutions being torn apart by liberals in their ranks. Their issues include: abortion, embrionic stem cells, euthanasia, gay marriage, date 'n fornicate, divorce, serial marriage, etc., a whole catagory of behavior that's often refered to as the "culture of death"...in the last debate when Bush was asked about abortion he used the words "culter of life" and conservative christians across the country knew EXACTLY what he was talking about. Just as importantly, a guy like Jf'nK is the enemy incarnate. I could hear the collective gasps when he stood up there during the 3rd dabate and said he was a man a faith, someone that 'respected' the Catholic formularies, *BUT* would not allow his beliefs to inform his political decisions. To a faithful Christian that is an outright slap in the face. It's that kind of moral ambivalence that they are having to contend with within their embattled denominations. What if he had said: "I grew up in America and I respect the belief that all men are created equal, *BUT* I won't allow that belief to sway my political decisions." <---The guy would be saying he was a racist and would embrace racists policies. It's all a matter of context and I believe the dems waaaaaaaaaaay underestimate the cohesion and anger within the conservative Christian movement. P.S.: A rabbi friend of mine says the same thing is going on within the Jewish community as well. Religion matters. And Kerry just doesn't get it. dung.

Hope and pray! I've been doing a lot of both!

I agree. I know of tradiontally democrat Catholics who are voting for Bush and traditionally democratic African-Americans who are voting for Bush because of the moral issues. The MSM has not picked up on this huge movement and probably just as well.

Faith does matter. Faith should affect how one votes. Voting for one who defends sin, is participating in that sin.

There are a lot of people who don't read their Bible and as a result don't see the connection between God fearing leaders and the blessing of a nation. They are being led by men not the Lord.
Nor do they realize the many prayers David prayed against his enemies!

There was an article in FTU the other day about a black pastor who's voting Bush and believes his congregation will vote according to moral issues and not economics.

I've heard the same thing about the Detroit area. I have a relative who is a Detroit firefighter and attends church with many African-Americans. He tells me the same thing, that the black vote will be big (by comparison to past elections)because of the moral issues. I think the MSM is in for a big surprise.

The headline certainly belies the content of the article, eh?
I want to be the Lord's sheep, not man's. Pity the people indoctrinated by blind shepherds.
