LOS LUNAS, N.M. - Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) said Sunday that Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites)'s first response to Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s new videotape was to take a poll to find out what he should say about it.
A spokesman for Kerry's campaign did not deny polling on the bin Laden videotape, but suggested President Bush (news - web sites) has done so. Bush's campaign strategist denied asking any poll questions about the al-Qaida terrorist.
"The thing that I find amazing about it is that John Kerry's first response was to go conduct a poll," Cheney told supporters in Fort Dodge, Iowa. "He went into the field ... to find out what he should say about this tape of Osama bin Laden."

Pathetic.
Shouldn't he take a poll on it first? </sarcasm> :^D
Big Ol' Bump.
Do we actually know the precise timeline of:
- Kerry's initial incautious politicizing remark
- His later more measured remark
- The "paraphrasing" push-poll
- Any other polls he might have done
- The first known post-poll remark
Surprise, surprise, surprise. Yet another democrat that only speaks his mind after polling. These people make me sick. They are a threat to our way of life (at least for most of us who give a damn about our God and country).
John Kerry = Government by Focus Group.
It's a nice talking point. Needless to say, the press will ignore it and most people won't hear about it.
But a thousand thanks to Drudge for making it public.
You ain't kidding! Typical politician!!!! Why can't these people see what a pathetic piece of work Kerry is and what he will do and say just to get elected???
GGGRRRRR, I hope Bush slams this tomorrow!!
Today Kerry also said that the people of America need to vote to send a message to the international community (ie FRANCE) that we want to back off the WOT & cooperate with them. I couldn't help but think that, instead, we should send a message to THE TERRORISTS instead!
"Global Test!"
You're right... it was a secret poll of the foreign leaders who support him
The Democratic motto: figure out what will give you the most political mileage, then go ahead.
No, but so what? When I say that "the first thing I did this morning was check the Internet", do you care if I actually made a pit-stop at the toilet first? :-)
Seriously---this is more for rhetorical effect. And what's Kerry going to do---say, "no, that's not the FIRST thing I did, it's the FIFTH or SIXTH" :)
You have got to be kidding? And they admitted to it as well? Who is running this campaign???
Not only did they admit to it, they gave a conference call to the press where they spun the results of it, and issued a transcript of that conference call as a press release.
Admitted to it? They bragged about it. They issued a trancript of a conference call where Greenberg/Devine/Lockhart said their internals showed the OBL tape cut Kerry's way. I posted the thread here on FR.
Which is how Clinton ran his presidency only Kerry does not have the charisma of Billy Bob.
re: timeline
> No, but so what?
I'm just curious. As you point out, the DNC is hardly
in a position to quibble about the timeline.

Indeed. I was just wondering if Cheney knows about a
second poll, prior to the "paraphrase" push-poll (which,
of course, was no poll at all, strictly speaking).
