From Univision Channel 19 in Sacramento - Monday, October 25th... (This was reported in Spanish and translated by one of my co-workers at 1380 KTKZ)

Female Reporter - President Bush proposes a program for Temporary workers who would have to return to their place of origin at three years. He has made it clear that he is opposed to an amnesty for undocumented workers.

Video Segment - (Bush) "That will allow a willing worker and a willing employer to come together, be it that there isn't an "American" willing to do this work, to have these two unite to be able to accomplish the need of the employer."

Female Reporter - For Bush the most important thing is security at the border and both candidates agree on the need to raise funds and the vigilance to avoid illegal immigration.

Female Reporter - Kerry on the other hand wants to grant amnesty to those already living in the US.

Video Segment - (Kerry) "We need a legalization program for those who have been here for a long time, haven't had problems, they have been employed, have paid their taxes and their children are US citizens we want to help them to become legal immigrants."

Female Reporter - Kerry also agrees that automatic citizenship be given to immigrants who serve in the Armed forces.

"We need a legalization program for those who have been here for a long time, haven't had problems, they have been employed, have paid their taxes and their children are US citizens we want to help them to become legal immigrants."

That has got to be one of THE most convoluted run-on sentences I have ever read.

If they are illegals, then they are not paying taxes because they don't have legitimate social security numbers.
Therefore, no amnesty for anybody under his limited conditions.

The USA needs to amend the first sentence of the 14th. Amendment that creates "citizens" regardless of their parents nationality. No other country permits such easy access to citizenship from the issue of foreign nationals.

Bush goes to Miami and says Cuba will be free (over there). Kerry finds a way to encourage more illegal immigration (here). Interesting contrast.

I was just fixin to ask this question, & u beat me to it. Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way; but considering the sttitudes of the GOP Establishment & President Bush, our voice is being heard less & less on this issue as time goes on.

That's odd, last week Kerry was against it...I guess thats not really odd, typical flip-flopping.

He must have done a poll. He was against it before he was for it.

The saddest thing about this is that Bush has lost out on an issue he could have hammered Kerry on (most Americans oppose amnesty for illegal aliens), and he has done so because he too is terrible on the issue. It'd be like the pot calling the kettle black.

Who is worse is a matter of debate, but since Kerry's is a sure eventual amnesty, while Bush's plan is a probable eventual amnesty, I guess it would be Kerry.

Kerry is trawling for the "illegal" vote (which of course they have not earned). How could they pay taxes -- oh, right, they file estimated returns on the cash income they are paid (sarcasm). In California, we are drowning in illegals. I don't even recognize our state any longer -- signs in Chinese and Spanish, but not in english. Bush's plan is far from perfect, but it is far better than a blanket amnesty.
