Schedule Change (Kerry in trouble in Mich.)
Fox News ^ | October 31, 2004

It's not uncommon for candidates to make last-minute changes to their travel schedules to take advantage of a state that all of sudden comes into play or to shore up support in a state that was supposed to be safe.

The latter applies to a late travel change for John Kerry.

The Democratic presidential candidate has added Michigan to his schedule on Monday and aides acknowledged that it's tighter there than they had expected. Last week, the Kerry campaign increased their advertising buy in Michigan for the final week, by $500,000 dollars.

Kerry strategists thought the state was safe 10 days ago and did not plan to visit Michigan as recently as last Monday. Now they will go there on the eve of the election.

Four years ago, Michigan supported Democrat Al Gore. The last time the state voted Republican was for the first Bush in the White House, George H.W. Bush, in 1988.

Would you rather have Jesse Jackson and Bill Clinton?!!! LOL!

Just "be happy" that you only have one pest to deal with. Jesse was in Arkansas on Friday and Clinton was here all weekend. Not to mention the TELEPHONE CALLS they are making. I just received one from Jesse and one from Laura Bush. This is going to be a LONG couple of days. I have already voted so I don't "need" any calls, emails, letters, ads, etc. We are seeing about six political ads for every five minutes of regular programming. It is getting OLD, FAST.

Kerry is not running any ads but MOVEON.ORG and the Democrat National Committee are running them for him. They are REALLY STUPID ADS (especially MoveOn ads). You can tell the people making those don't have a clue what appeals to flyover country.

I saw Gov. Huckabee on Fox News today and he says Pres. Bush is leading, IIRC, by eight points or more in Arkansas. I think Clinton is going to speak in Little Rock tonight (he may have already started). PUKE! It looks like a mess since part of downtown is closed off to finish the Clinton LIEbrary for the opening next month. It STILL looks like a trailer park to me. What a MESS!

I agree, Kerry should listen to Zogby, take the day off, and go windsurfing or have his toenails done....

Well, I gotta admit every minute and dollar he spends here is one dollar and minute he doesn't spend elsewhere. If he keeps Michigan (as I expect, though I'm hopeful Bush can sneak it right out from under him) it's nothing to get excited about. Bush doesn't need Michigan to win.

But, as we all know, if we do go red, Kerry is all but sunk.

So I don't really mind him visiting. We'll just clean up the mess he leaves later...

In Michigan people own their own SUVs and they know a phony when they see him.

Don't think for one second that he has given up on Florida. Its simply not true. He has an ad barrage that makes me sick of hearing the TV.
You mean President Bush is going to cut SS 45%, make you work til 72 even if you want to retire ... etc? I'm Slimeball Kerry and I approved this ad! A$$hole scare tactics. Arrgh! Please Lord ... you know what we need. Again. Amen. ;-)

Kerry defending Michigan on Nov 1 and a tie in the popular vote? Impossible.

Right. These state polls are ridiculous. Take the Bush national lead and add it to every 2000 state final tally and you will get a much clearer picture.

OT but has anyone questioned whether Kerry used the GI Bill to attend Boston College Law School 1973-1976? He would have been authorized to use those funds if he had an HONORABLE DISCHARGE.

IMO, Kerry has banked too much on the black vote and the union vote in MI.

He also underestimated the backlash he can expect from DEMS changing horses by virtue of the Muslims supporting him for President.

You can take the Horseface to water, but you can't make they drink.

I'd rather be RED than DEAD. Remember 9/11 on 11/2!
