Pres. Bush Promises Freedom for Cuba in Stump Speech in Miama, Florida
MSNBC ^ | October 31, 2004 | BIOCHEMKY

Posted on 10/31/2004 12:18:46 PM PST by BIOCHEMKY

In front of a large and highly energized crowd, President Bush announced his intention for the United States to bring freedom to the people of Cuba. The President promised to bring pressure to bear in order to ensure that every Cuban has the same freedoms as all Americans. The President's unexpected assertion was welcomed by a large crowd of supporters in a hugely resounding and highly energized way. The response of the largely Cuban-American crowd to the President's declaration of freedom for Cuba culminated with of those in attendance spontaneously and excitedly leaping to their feet and cheering very loudly and repetitively "Viva Bush, Viva Bush, Viva Bush"!!!

The President was obviously moved by the outpouring of support, so much so that when he did respond, he did so in spanish. The President asked for each person in attendance to go to the polls and cast their vote for Bush-Cheney. The President then stated also in spanish that he needed the help of everyone there in attendance and he thanked them for coming.

The decision to publically announce the President's intention to bring pressures to bear to bring freedom to Cuban citizens at this exact moment when he and Senator Kerry are enjoying alot of free cable news coverage was really brilliant on someone's part in the Bush Campaign. It was clear that a consequence of the President's plan to bring freedom to Cuba would go a long way toward fostering goodwill for the President in Cuban-American communities everywhere. !Viva Bush!

World casting a wary eye on U.S. election

Cubans, exhausted and impoverished by 44 years of a U.S. economic embargo, have seized on Kerry's support for an end to the U.S. travel ban as evidence the bitter, confrontational relationship with Washington could change if he is elected.

Kerry hasn't suggested a major revision of U.S. policy toward Cuba, but Cubans eager to see more Americans in their midst pin their hopes on his victory in expectation the situation couldn't get worse.

it sounds an awful lot like pandering

So, do you not believe that President Bush will back up what he says? Hint. You don't want to take this bet.

What will Kerry say about this! Hmmm...Thunderous shouts of No, never! Cubans live in a workers' paradise! How could freedom be any better than a mud hut and eating whatever you can grow in the back yard? My friend Fidel...did I tell you he called me secretly? Anyway, Fidel deserves our support and understanding, and little Elian, back where he belongs, thanks to Janet Reno....Or Plan B. Freedom for Cubans? Bush said that? By God, I said it last week, first, before I didn't say, it, that is I took it back...No wait, let me poll a focus group about this, then I'll decide what to say...

Well, Fidel fell flat on his face the other day and broke a few bones. That's not good when you're around eighty. He won't last much longer and then Cuba will be hankering for a new dialogue with the US and a chance to join the rest of the free world.

Iran and china have ambitions in cuba. Can't let them continue, now, can we?

Precisely. How about a Free Cuba? I like the sound of that. What would be left to fulfill Reagan's Legacy of no communism in the Western Hemisphere?

Most of the country never forgave Kennedy for refusing air support at the last minute. Never.

From that CNN link you posted:

If you are a Democrat who believes your great party has turned too far left in this year, I ask you, come stand with me."

I don't think I've heard Bush say this directly before. Needs to be said.

To all of you who took the time to object to my characterization of Bush's comments on getting rid of Castro as "pandering", may I say that we all know that Bush has absolutely no plans to move against Castro should he be reelected. He will have his hands full in pacifying Iraq and then moving on to defang Iran and North Korea. By that time his four years will be up and he can retire in glory. I don't see any time left in that agenda for the "liberation" of Cuba.

I took GWB's comments on 'freedom for Cuban's' to mean that GWB will end up doing something like Ronald Reagan would have done.
Like..."Mr. Castro...Go Fall Off That Wall!"(or something?) He has a very high IQ, and with God's help he will do very well with Cuba I think! I have complete and total confidence in our President to accomplish many great things!

WooHoo!!!

Castro has been asking for this for years. There are so many reasons to elect Bush, but bringing freedom to Cuba is a very good one.

My desired hit list-

Iran
Syria
North Korea
Cuba
Vietnam (just cause I hate to leave a job undone). It would make the hippies heads explode if we did it. LOL
