Just wanted to let you know that back in the "70's", those of us on active duty had a saying-
"Cream and Scum both wind up on top."
During my 12 year affiliation (1972-1980, 1984-1986 active, 1987-1989 Reserve) with the USN I had several peripheral glances at Officers being disciplined, all of whom were, shall I say, protected by the club. I have no supporting information, however, according to Rumor Control from that time, (early 70's) Mr. K., among others, received general d/c's under less than honorable conditions due to their activists behaviors while still a member of the best 600 ship Navy in the world. I have no issue with his being an activist, he did not lay aside his civil rights upon donning the uniform (paraphrase George Washington here)! However, He had taken an oath, to protect this country, and to obey his superiors. At that time I don't recall any of the folks that I reported to telling me to hang out with the VC or to say things that caused the POWs to be additionally tortured. He broke the faith then and I believe he will do it again. I will just say that it is too bad that dueling as an art form doesn't yet remain.

Is it Heinz that say they have "57 varieties"? This would just about equal the number of Kerry's positions on terrorism, the economy and appeasement.
