Had a run-in at the gym today. Locker room, Kerry supporter is muttering about how he hates Bush, can't wait till he's gone. Talking to another Kerry Edwards supporter (and yes, our gym is going about 75% for Bush), and he invokes...Halliburton.
That's all they have to say. It's a touchstone. Just say it and nod wisely and knowingly. It conveys: Corruption, proof of corruption, hatred for Bush, etc.
So then I got stupid on him...I pretended like I was really curious, and really interested in what he had to say....
mmmmm......free beer. /simpson
There are at least a few FReepers who work for Halliburton...and we have the temerity not to be ashamed of it, either. HAHAHAHA
bttt
"I hope he doesn't have the stones to come back for year. If Bush wins, he'll probably quit."
Their may be a sudden rise in demand for Kool-Aid.
It would seem that the Kerry crowd has a great deal of self interest in keeping the Halliburton story going.
"dot connecting" so far.)
"While she has been critical of Halliburton, liberal columnist Molly Ivins notes that "Democrats are involved in similar dealings." She cites former CIA director John Deutsch, who serves on the board of Schlumberger. <<<<< A French competitor of Halliburton.
She also failed to note that another board member of Schlumberger is Jamie Gorelick, deputy Attorney General under Clinton. She was accused by Bush Attorney General John Ashcroft of erecting the "wall" that kept U.S. intelligence agencies from cooperating to discover and prevent the 9/11 terrorist plot.
Deutsch, who also served under Clinton, could have been prosecuted for mishandling classified information. But Clinton gave him a last minute pardon before he left office.
Jamie Gorelick is a partner at Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale & Dorr
She also serves on several boards, including the Fannie Mae Foundation,<<<<<<<<< the head of Fannie was appt.ed by Clinton and Fannie is under investigation for overstated profits) United Technologies Corporation, Schlumberger,
Limited, The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Harvard College Board of Overseers<<<<<<< Harvard is a big contributor to Kerry Camapaign???

I heard on Fox that the number was about 85 people lost.
The Bin Laden Group
Hmmm...put Ann Coulter inside it, and I can see the appeal.
You just ask the person to name 1 other company in the world that does exactly what Halliburton does.
My question is, how do you defend the accusation that Halliburton's employees are mercenaries? Or that all of the contractors killed have been mercenaries.
I don't even know for sure if they have been. Anybody?
In the Vice Presidential debates, Dick Cheney suggested going here:
