Former CBSNEWS anchorman Walter Cronkite believes Bush adviser Karl Rove is possibly behind the new Bin Laden tape.

Cronkite made the startling comments late Friday during an interview on CNN.

Cronkite said he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."

Interviewer Larry King did not ask Cronkite to elaborate on the provocative election eve accusation.

Think about the implications of that accusation.

Cronkite should know better--this is as bad as Rathergate, no it is worse. Rathergate is slander/libel.

Cronkite is accusing President Bush (by implication) and Karl Rove of Treason. He is implying a connection between Rove and our enemy, the man responsible for the death of 3,000 people on 9/11.

All Americans should demand an apology--regardless of party affiliation.

I'm not saying there was a reason to trust Walter Cronkite -- like most of the rest of the MSM, he is and always was a biased liberal. But he reportedly held that title while he was anchoring the CBS Evening News, at least after 1974, according to Ask Mr. Pop History:

Well, think about it! I have long maintained that OBL has been our guest at a secluded deluxe resort at a place like Diego Garcia for a long time. The wonderful medical technicians of the CIA have nursed him back to health. He has been getting powerful "happy" chemicals in his IVs.

But, go the next step! If Rove is behind this, it means that OSB's location will be determined from the broadcast and Sunday or Monday, two sets of special forces will arrive at a remote location. The first set will insert OBL and some of his sedated followers and the second set will arrive to blow them to hell.

If Rove did arrange this, it means that we have OBL under our control.
