Today, John Kerry departed from his prepared remarks in Orlando, Florida to unleash a cry that can be summed up in one word: Desperation.
"Wake up America, wake up. ... You have a choice," he said.
Telling America to 'wake up' is not a message for the future, it is the cry of a flailing candidate who has no momentum and is reaching the end of the line.
In 86 I started a graphic novel called SLEEPERS. About how an enemy on the inside was putting America to sleep with the media's help.

See my post #59. I gave you the entire URL, Kevin. Copy it, paste it into your address area and see the photo for yourself. Sheesh!!!
Thanks for the ping, PKM.
I think even Kerry realizes by now that he's toast.
And tomorrow, Wreck Silo Tech!
Defeat Moo U!
Go Sooners!!
Are you talking about the campaign commercial where the producer took out the podium and placed some more soldiers where it was? That was a completely different place and crowd, and the campaign shipped out new copies of the commercial with the undoctored image in them.
I very rarely get irritated with people who post on FR. If yours was an honest mistake, then I apologize for my sharp tone. But next time, right-click on a photo to see it's URL before jumping to conclusions. If you did that with this one, you'd see it comes from the U.S. News photo source that Yahoo uses all the time.
zzzzzz.....
I remember a little anecdote I heard several years ago regarding the 1984 Reagan - Mondale campaign. Reagan was barnstorming around the country, rallying huge crowds wherever he went. But there was one clip that got played on the news, showing Mondale exiting from a plane and getting into a car, and not a single other person was around. The guy who related this story (it was on a talk radio show) said he, and everyone else who saw that, just knew right then that the race was over.
Great comparison -- Kerry to Let's Make a Deal -- what is behind Door #2?
He saved that for his wife! :)
It is a news photo taken by Reuters!
I saw some thread in where this photo was a fake... An honest mistake on my part...
Why didn't someone make a billboard out of that picture of Kerry walking all over the flag?
Good anecdote. I hope it turns out to be prophetic. If turnout is as huge as early voting seems to indicate, the only polls that may be accurate are the private ones the campaigns do. They base their polls on actual voter registrations, while public pollsters base theirs on turnout models from the last election cycle or two. So the "body language" of the two campaigns may indeed be a better indicator than the public media polls right now.
I don't have an account at DU (refuse to donate), but if somebody could ping a couple of threads over there to this quote I would happily go over there and report to y'all what the teenagers say.
Does your handle mean you're a Bootyologist?
