BAD News For Dems: Hawaii, Which Bush Leads In, ONLY Votes GOP In Republican Re-Election Landslides.
RealClearPolitics

Posted on 10/29/2004 7:15:30 AM PDT by Laissez-faire capitalist

Hawaii, which Al Gore won by 20% in 2000, only votes GOP in Republican re-election landslides.

Hawaii voted for Ronald Reagan in 1984, in his re-election landslide, and for Richard Nixon in 1972 in his re-election landslide.

These are historical facts.

This must be especially disconcerting news for Democrats.

California can afford to be ignored by Bush

I think its a mistake to ignore CA. 54 electorals at one time would sure save the campaign alot of calculating, strategery & worry over a close election.

If it turns out Bush loses by less than 7 pts without any campaign visits or expenditures, it will be clear - to me anyway - that with just a little effort he could've won it.

The GOP has GOT to stop reflexively writing off CA.

Ah, there's a name I haven't heard too much in this election. Does Guam have a vote?

The dems are so desperate they are sending Gore to the rescue. LOL! Can you imagine Gore more out of place than in Hawaii? Oh yeah, he'll fit right in to the laid back atmosphere. It's just too ridiculous to be anything other than true desperation the dems. are experiencing.

Yeah, the idea of Gore singing "Everybody Loves A Hukelau" is very entertaining. Although his head does look like something you could carve on a coconut.

Cheney is going to Hawaii Sunday. Good! I hope Kerry is forced to fight in Gore states.

I understand that there are a fair amount of Mormons in Hawaii also. Is this true and does that factor in.

There have been posts on FR from DUmmie trolls saying they know many who voted for Bush in 2000 but will go Kerry in 04, but none or few who voted Gore and will now go for Bush.

Well, I know about 80 to 85 friends and family who I've talked to at football games this fall, and most of them voted for either Gore or Nader in 2000, and I'll guarantee you that at least 70 of them are now in the Bush column!

Bye, bye John-Johns. Keep your cushy day jobs in the senate. Neither one of you could hold up to the pressure a REAL president goes through, especially from the left wing MSM!!!!

Freegards. SOT

The MSM is spinning like a top. On Friday's NBC Evening News, Tim Russert told Brokaw that Bush HAS to pay attention to Hawaii to counteract the 4 electoral votes he expects to lose in New Hampshire. All together now... Bwahahahaaaaaaa!

Hawaii voting Bush could have several other, more likely, explanations, to wit: (1) the high number of veterans in Hawaii and Kerry's unpopularity with vets; and (2) Hawaii's sense of insecurity about terrorism being the closest US state to Indonesia and the Philippines, which are bubbling hotbeds og Muslim hatred.

You left out same sex marriage. The state courts tried to impose it on Hawaii in '94, so in '98 Hawaii became the first state in the union to define marriage as one man to one woman. Kerry hurts himself in Hawaii by being on the wrong side of the CMA.

Hawaii sits alone in the Pacific .. they'd best vote for Bush. Imagine the carnage of a hit on Waikiki.

The Washington Redskins lost today. In 16 elections going back to 1932, when they lose in the game before the election, the incumbent loses. When they win the incumbent wins.

Oh no!

The statistics on Democrats not winning the presidency if they don't carry Missouri stretch back to the early 19th century.

Bush is leading in Missouri in an averaging of polls, by 4.7%.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/Presidential_04/mo_polls.html

The stat on the Redskins stretches back to the 1930's. Far less time than the Missouri stat.

The Missourri stat is more compelling.

Oh No! for Democrats.
