Kerry Minimum Tax
Wall Street Journal ^ | 28 Oct 2004

We've all heard about the Alternative Minimum Tax, or at least most of us will sooner or later. That convoluted scheme to ensure we can't use deductions to avoid paying our "fair" share is predicted to ensnare a record 12.3 million taxpayers next year, and between one-quarter and one-third of all filers by 2010.

But the disclosure that Teresa Heinz Kerry paid a federal tax rate of only 12.4% on her income in 2003 has given us a different idea. How about a Kerry Maximum Tax? That is, no taxpayer should have to pay a larger share of his income in taxes than John Kerry and his mega-millionaire spouse, who are after all bidding to become role models as America's First Couple.

All of these brain dead liberals who keep shouting that the rich should be taxed more. Yet, is there a single one of them that does not employ a team of lawyers and accountants to ensure that they get every tax break possible. They know what they are saying is not what they want. They say it only to fool those people to ignorant of the facts or too lazy to research the truth. They are also quite certain that the MSM will not mention the fact they do not pay high taxes. If they were honest, they'd pay the maximum tax possible, then they could legitimately question why others do not pay more.

Interesting concept. But I have an even better idea. Make all income taxes voluntary and see just how much the liberals will donate when the threat of imprisonment is taken away.
