On Saturday it will be 3 days before our election.
Three days (72 hrs exactly) before Spain's election, two commuter trains were bombed with the loss of hundreds of lives.
Spain's incumbent President was well ahead in the polls up to that point. He lost 3 days later to the challenger who had been running on a platform of withdrawing Spain's troops from Iraq ASAP.
Al Qaeda learned a big lesson then. Terrorism can throw an election their way.
Am I just being paranoid? I've been wondering every day for weeks now --- in an election this close, could two or three suicide bombers taking out hundreds of (mostly) women and children in shopping malls in battleground states be all that's required to give the election to Kerry? We've all heard the rumors of an unnamed 527 group standing by ready to hit our TV screens with an already-filmed ad saying, "George Bush. He promised to protect us. He didn't keep his promise!"
Or would American swing voters react in the opposite direction to how Spanish swing voters reacted, and actually cause this to backfire on the terrorists?
Helping to relieve my paranoia somewhat are the thoughts that, 1) Tom Ridge has not heightened the alert status, and 2) Another foreign attempt to intervene in our election on behalf of Kerry (the UK Guardian's "Clark County, Ohio" campaign) backfired on them and helped Bush instead.
Regardless of whether I'm paranoid or not, I don't plan to visit any crowded public areas in the next 5 days!!
My fondest hope is to be able to re-read this in 6 days and have a good laugh at myself for being so delusionally paranoid.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?
I was worried about Wednesday, and it passed. I don't think they'll do a weekend. Monday would suck.
I hope it doesn't happen.
Let me put it this way: I'm glad my college alma mater is playing an "away" game.
I am.
Ohio State plays Penn State. We looked good against Indiana, but who can say if the offense is really fixed?
No, not worried about that terrorism stuff. Gotta stick to what's important. :)
Why were you worried about Wednesday?
If they WERE planning anything, I certainly hope they sat up and took notice of the Guardian fisaco, and figured into their calculations that their actions might tip an election to Bush that was about to go to Kerry!
I am worried that my lame duck led Mighty Gators will get waxed by the Georgia Leghumpers
Well, in my Modern Islamic Civ class, we all agreed that an attack would equal a Bush landslide.
This includes the S. Korean kid in class.
Instead of posting a vanity, you should repost your concern on the Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat thread. Many fine people can let you know what might be going on.

I'm not worried.
Saturday is my favorite day. :-)
I had the same thoughts myself. That's why I intend to use my concealed carry permit while my wife and I shopping this weekend.
Wednesday was day of the lunar eclipse. Someone reposted a chilling Ramadan/Eclipse warning from 2003 and I was worried about Wednesday as well.
My apologies. The latest link is here.

I'm not worried. Dubya will keep us safe. Keep the faith.
God Bless President George W. Bush :)
Hang on. Robby Schoenhoft is on the way.
As sick as it sounds
Bring them on!
If it takes cleaning out our own house to help our troops, we may need to take them on over here!
If it's going to happen, there is nothing we can do about it, but get ready to fight!!!
I'm ready to help our troops!!!!!
These people suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was always felt that the Aznar governments disastrous handling of the attack in the days after contributed to his loss. ETA? Comeon...
