Hey, this can be weaved seamlessly into the attacks on Kerry and NYTrogate:

Kerry questions competence of armed forces by embracing false/questionable NYT story too quickly and congressional Dems use influence to goad FBI into attacking the Army Corps of Engineers by questioning their integrity.

PS-As a KBR employee, I say "bring it on" to the FBI and, unlike John Effin, I mean it.

Because Halliburton is one of only two or three companies on the planet that do the particular work they do.

First the phony "explosivesgate", now another phony "Halliburtongate". This is the left's version of that quarter century-old DUI in 2000. And since stupid people are suckers for propaganda, this could very well work.

What an absoulte joke the crAP is.

Why don't you start investigating Kerry's discharge, you tools? Or Kerry's meetings with Madame Binh in Paris.

The crAP will stop at nothing to ensure the President's defeat.

Ok FREEPERS....WHO is Bunnatine Greenhouse?? Who has she donated money to? Who is she related to?

Also, does anyone know if Lady Bird Johnson and her two daughters still own a ton of stock in Halliburton?

Does anyone at Associated Press, New York Times, CBS, et al, realize that they are participating in unfair late attacks and think that this behavior is unseemly?

Wonder if the FBI will ever be interested in how the DNC and the Kerry campaign co-ordinated threats to advertisers on Sinclair Broadcasting.

From what I know about Federal contracting, it can often take 6 months, a year, or more from start to the day the contract is awarded and work can begin. If the Iraq reconstruction contracts had followed the normal competitive bid process, the Kerrybots would now be bitching about the delays. What's more, if the contracting process was started before the war actually began (to minimize startup delays), there would be even more bitching about "rushing to war", and failing to pass the "global test" administered by the UN.

uhm.....as a person who does contract negotiations with the federal government - - the White House does not let contracts! Congress of other agencies of the govenrment do so. Depending on the warrant of the agency, sizeable contracts may have to get congressional approval.

Even if the contract to be awarded can be done with a sole source justification, believe me, the agency will really "paper" their files so that it is bullet-proof against GAO audit.

This is just junk....GAO does the investigation, or the IG for the agency - - not the FBI!!

Yes. Now why didn't those contracts go to Heinz Ketchup or Loral or Progressive Insurance? I'm sure they had the expertise to set up a huge trucking operation in the Middle East with 2 weeks notice.

Since the "Bush Administration" doesn't let contracts for defense, and the article addresses the Pentagon as the focal point, what the hell is this headline about, as if I didn't know.

Nice work A.P., 'socialism's team on the street'.

Looks like Time is running with this story next Monday in the Business section, the day before the election. http://www.time.com/time/business/

First story titled "Beyond the Call of Duty". Once again, Time proves they are partisan hacks.

WASHINGTON - The top civilian contracting official for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, charging that the Army granted large contracts for work in Iraq and the Balkans without following rules designed to ensure competition and fair prices to the government

WHOA! She's going back to the Clinton years' no-bid contracts with this? Where the hell has she been? Obviously the timing is highly suspect.

I have some questions -

Since this company was used by Clinton and President Bush - and is reported to have problems - Why do people keep using the company - ? Is there no other that can do the task - ?

Also - knowing there are problems in the FBI and CIA - is there anything that can be done "fast" - once President Bush is re-elected - ?

The Pentagon - also needs to check over their people - can that be done within a short length of time - ? (Also State Dept.)

A lot of departments are corrupted - isn't there anything people can do to 'limit' the harm coming out of them - ? Would cutting down on how many people get certain information - be possible - ?

just hoping President Bush does something to help himself once he gets re-elected -

And of course there is Congress - A total mess as it stands -

It would be nice if everyone in government was indeed on the same page - Might even help in bringing this nation together
-

just questions and thoughts -
