AP NewsBreak: FBI begins investigating how Halliburton got Bush administration contracts
By JOHN SOLOMON
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI has begun investigating whether the Pentagon improperly awarded no-bid contracts to Halliburton Co., seeking an interview with a top Army contracting officer and collecting documents from several government offices.
The line of inquiry expands an earlier FBI investigation into whether Halliburton overcharged taxpayers for fuel in Iraq, and it elevates to a criminal matter the election-year question of whether the Bush administration showed favoritism to Vice President Dick Cheney's former company.
FBI agents this week sought permission to interview Bunnatine Greenhouse, the Army Corps of Engineers' chief contracting officer who went public last weekend with allegations that her agency unfairly awarded a Halliburton subsidiary no-bid contracts worth billions of dollars in Iraq, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.
Bush also called Jeff Suppan before Game Three of the World Series and gave him advice on baserunning.
The French company is called Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB)
Honestly, no I don't think it will hurt him. The American people are oversaturated with anti Bush stories. I believe when they hear Halliburton everyone nods off.
Lord, they are now trying a Cap Weinberger redux. They are slipping apparently and trying everything to turn this thing around.
The only question the FBI needs to ask her is who else would have bid on the contract?

And that's all I have to say about that.
Maybe the insurance had something to do with the likelihood that employees would be killed and would then seek compensation and exhaust all manner of legal alternatives. We wouldn't want to have a backup plan for that, now would we Ms. Greenhouse? I'm sure you'd rather they just suck the life-juices out of Halliburton in such cases.
It was probably just too tempting to resist for Ms. Bunny not to exploit her position, both on behalf of her leftist friends and to get a marker in the big game for herself.
There's so much predictability in her actions alone that there's just no further meaning vis-a-vis anything Halliburton might have done in what Bunny has spewn forth.
HF
Dan Rather led with this tonight.
At least Jennings didn't mention it until ten minutes into the broadcast.
No one else could bid on what they were doing -- they have the expertise and are large enough to handle the work. AP makes it sound like they are making this "huge" profit and like you stated, they are not.
Why does the FBI hate freedom?
How should Bush handle this? I think he should go on the offense of the timing of this..
The dumb*ss doesn't realize that there isn't another company that could have done the job in Iraq unless they called the FRENCH!
This is just another "GET BUSH" attempt from MSM! I am so sick of them I could scream! Instead I went and early VOTED! I was number 4,721 in a town of about 30,000. I don't think I am the only one who pulled the lever for Bush/Cheney either! They are so damn desperate they are throwing everything they have at the President. They don't realize that it is mostly sticking to THEM.
The French company Schlumberger if Kerry/Edwards and The New York Times had their way!
Another damn lie shot down!
I guess announcing the have indicted Dick Cheney would be a little obvious. We might figure out it is (Shh!!!) motivated by desperation.
The *(#%%$)&*((@#*$ MSM is getting on my ever last nerve
Thank goodness for Fox News .. or we would never know
