Yes, because of 2000, this time the liberals are absolutely, screamingly obsessed with Florida and Ohio. Meanwhile, because the Democrats are so focused on those two places, the Republicans are about to sweep up Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico and perhaps a handful of other Gore states.

Yep, brilliant strategy.

Kerry is running Al Qaqaa ad in massive rotation. We will see very soon if this indeed hurts the President. Bush needs an attack theme to place the focus back on Kerry...and fast

Kerry ads are absolutely saturating the central Ohio cable channels. Every commercial break on shows like Oprah are running Kerry ads, especially the one about Bush "choosing sides" against working families on economic issues.

Once in a while I see a Bush ad, and it never addresses the economic and employment issues. I guess Bush has ceded these issues to the 'Rats. That is a huge strategic blunder because polls have indicated that this is the salient issue here. That could be enough to put Kerry over the top in the state.

If that scenario is correct, it might explain why Bush is spending a lot of time and effort in other states, like PA, MI, IA, and WI, perhaps as a hedge against losing OH. That would also be a mistake. We need to show some electoral strength in a heartland region like this in order to claim a mandate to govern. A narrow victory, which would probably be the best we could hope for if Bush loses OH, would be like 2000 all over again, with the 'Rats hammering at every turn about an "illegitimate" Presidency.
