April 6, 2003 Two American warplanes mistakenly bomb a convoy of Kurdish and U.S. Special Forces fighters, killing 19 Kurds and one American and injuring 45 people. http://www.cfr.org/publication.php?id=5351
A quick search of "truck convoy leaving iraq" finds the above links including the Russia convoy we shot up. It look like we knew things were moving before we arrived and we took action on those that looked suspicious. Certainly with this evidence, 40 trucks couldn't have moved out under our nose. WE OWNED THE SKY!, if my memory serves me. The DU thread is not available, wonder what they are hiding. Can anyone out there get additional info on this post, not sure of date though. My search skills are limited. I additionally tried to search this site to see what you guys/gals may have said back then without success. Just a newbie trying to contribute.
Sorry I don't have the quick links figured out yet. Will study for future post.
Just had a thought about where this story came from/ If Russians did take this stuff out how did Wash Times get the story so quickly. 48 hours after the first blast of the Times story went big. How about Putin, having decided forhis nation's best interest that Bush must be reelected decides to give this story to a pro Bush newspaper. His hope? To deflate a story that might harm Bush's chances. Think an old KGB guy might come up with something like that?
I think there are many post that may shine light on your question. I think the old KGB operatives are capable of anything in light of Russia's woes.
