It's the President's stand against same-sex marriage, the abortion issue, and embryonic stem-cell research.

Also .. during one of the President's early campaign speeches, a group of the Amish elders (not sure which area) showed up and brought the President a quilt (and other gifts). They requested to meet with him to present the quilt. He agreed. GW went to meet with them privately - and they requested they be allowed to pray with him and over him. He agreed. They did. After that meeting, the stories of the Amish starting to register to vote FOR THE FIRST TIME began to filter out into the media.

Now .. somebody tell me GOD is not involved in this election ..??

I'm currently reading "The Faith of George W Bush." He definitely felt a calling to run for president.

I was at the Lancaster rally today with my sister & her 2 little ones. Hard to estimate the crowd when you're in the middle of it, but judging from the fact that I saw cars parked along the street 2 miles away and people walking, my guess is between 15-20,000. We'll get the final number in a few days when they tell us the click-throughs at the security gates. BTW, the official Hershey PA rally number, according to WHP 580 talk radio was 31,276- about 5,000 more than the media reported.
It was a great, great day and I was surprised at the number of Amish in attendance. Sis had more inside information on them from her church contacts, and explained some of the factors, spiritual and issue-based, that are at work.
There is a big spiritual reconciliation and movement afoot in the Anabaptist community. They are most definitely stepping up to the plate in this election, in unprecedented numbers. As I mentioned before in a previous thread, we're talking the entire Anabaptist community from Old Order to more progressive- Bretheren, Mennonite, Amish, Hutterite. These are significant numbers.
Like the Christian evangelicals, they are understanding how voting becomes a vital work of their faith.
The news she told me was hugh and series good news!

Thanks for the great pics! Love the "hung" shirt and the big troops sign. I made buttons for us that said "Support our troops and the Commander-in-Chief they trust".

BTW, in the back, behind the press risers where we were standing, there was a scuffle and protestor disruption which was shouted down and squelched fairly quickly. But of course all the TV cameras had to swing around and film it. I hope whoever it was got the snot smacked out of them.
