These pics just made my day! God has his arms around this election! God Bless President Bush!
I would also like that shirt. However, it might be a shade difficult to wear it around my 14 and 15 year old daughters and their friends. On the other hand, my wife was born in an Army hospital in Yokohama, and her father was career Army (he earned a real Purple Heart in Korea from a bullet through his neck); she might enjoy one of those Army Brat for Bush tee shirts.
My dream is to visit Lancaster County someday....
The Amish fascinate me.
"you might have 5,000 votes"
most people don't know that Ohio has more Amish than any other state in the US, and that if course includes PA
"Kingpin" bump...
You're so right!!
Judging from your pictures you obviously were closer than we were but not far from we were standing. It was awesome. Having been to the Rally for America in Valley Forge that had about 15,000 this event had to be 20,000+. The pres brought his "A" game today. Thanks for the pix.
Thanks for the great pics! Love the "hung" shirt and the big troops sign. I made buttons for us that said "Support our troops and the Commander-in-Chief they trust".
BTW, in the back, behind the press risers where we were standing, there was a scuffle and protestor disruption which was shouted down and squelched fairly quickly. But of course all the TV cameras had to swing around and film it. I hope whoever it was got the snot smacked out of them.
Wonderful pictures!
These are the kind of Pennsylvanians I know, from living in this state for 43 years.
These are true Americans, not like Fast Eddie Rendell's union thugs in Philly.
I am confident that Pennsylvania will go in the Bush column next Tuesday.
Hey no fair kickin me when I'm gone. Besides you made my wife laugh at me.
(no offense taken.)
LOLOL! THat was pretty funny....
Kerry's T-shirt would read "Hung like a Hamster"!
I'm sure the Amish don't like Kerry at all.
Interesting. Just think of the thousands of "unpolled"--cellphone users, Amish, Hasidic Jews, people like me on dialup whose phonelines are always busy, etc. etc.
The Kerry people are in for a rude awakening if they are depending on the polls.
Awesome photo!
Right on! Is there a website to get those shirts?
I was pretty far back. I have a pretty good zoom, so it looks like I was closer. I think the event is more fun from a distance, anyway. The people and the energy is what it is really about, and that's what I tried to capture with my shots.
Great job, energy was with us and the president, all in all a wonderful day
The best place to interact with the Amish is Ohio's Amish country. After visiting Ohio's Amish and spending as many as 6 long weekends there per year, we went to Pa. last fall. The Amish in PA simply would not even speak with us. They automatically turned their faces away when they saw an "English" tourist coming. Couple that with a lack of reasonably priced restaurants that were clean, and we decided staying on our home turf was the wisest choice.
You are very right in your observations. We have a huge amount of tourism here looking to interact with and understand the Amish community. But the Amish are totally uninterested in encouraging it, and in fact despise the tourists. I've lived here 8 years and they barely acknowledge that my existence.
Can't say that I blame them, really. The tourists do help the local economy and many Amish businesses benefit, but I think they'd just as soon be farmers and have no tourists. The best place to eat in Lancaster County is at the Farmer's Markets, where you can get fresh meats, pastries and produce. It's also the best place to have an "Amish" experience as the tourists almost never go.
