ROCKPORT, Texas - Andrew Isbell wore an Army sergeant's uniform, two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart during his drug possession trial in August. Now authorities are citing military records that show he worked in food service, never was in the infantry, never attained a rank above private and didn't receive the medals he wore, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported in its Wednesday editions.
Isbell was acquitted of the drug charge. But he has since been charged with aggravated perjury in Aransas County.
Military records mention nothing about him being wounded, nor did he receive a Bronze Stars or Purple Heart, according to an affidavit.
Isbell is free on $50,000 bond, but could face two to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine if he is convicted, prosecutor Michael Hess said.
A woman who answered the phone at his home on Tuesday night told The Associated Press that he was out of town. Court officials said they do not know if Isbell has hired an attorney.
Isbell recently was charged after making a statement to Texas Ranger Oscar Rivera and FBI (news - web sites) Special Agent Andy Walton.
Hess said an investigation into Isbell's story began after a juror in the drug trial raised questions about Isbell's uniform.
Isbell was absent without leave for 61 days and was discharged for the betterment of the service, according to the arrest affidavit.
Isbell violated federal regulations by displaying military medals that he did not earn, Walton said in the document.
Old Sarge will not be posting to this thread.
Sarge is currently self-administering anger management, in the form of gnawing on the corner of his desk, as a result of reading this post.
Sarge will be present for duty, once the Demoral kicks in, and the work order for the new workstation is submitted.
Thank you.
Guess he was taking lessons from Kerry.
Ahhhh, justice is served. Don't take it too bad Old Sarge, this dorktard is going to pay a steep price.
Hahaa! I'm glad you're on our side Sarge!
WOW! He could run for President as a dumbo-krat!......
He sounds like one of the guys John Kerry used to run around with.
How ... "Kerryesque" of him.
John "Reporting for Duty" Kerry will pardon his fellow medal-fabricator if he reaches the White House.
He'd have been alot better off. Loser!
"My advise to you is to start drinking....heavily."
HAHAHAHAH! Thanks for that!
This guy had to have cheated on the written test to have gotten into the service to begin with. An IQ smaller than your shoe size is a distinct liability.
He should have came into court with big, frilly epaulets, a sword and a Commodore Perry hat on his head. The more surreal, the better I always say. :-)
I can't for the life of me figure out WHY he did it. I mean, c'mon! And especially for a court appearance. And where did he get the two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart? Father? Pawn shop?
Let us show a little more respect, here! Isbell, by wearing awards to which he is not entitled, has qualified to become a democrat candidate for Senator from Massachusetts and US President. The dems seem to like false and lying heros.
You can buy them at some surplus store, believe it or know..I don't think it is legal and the ones I have seen are not official looking but people who don't know, probably wouldn't notice..This mental giant being one.
Sarge pass the hooch...
