Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is expected to travel to Ohio on Friday to stump for President Bush, campaigned Monday alongside San Francisco Democratic Mayor Gavin Newsom -- underscoring his differences with the White House on two critical issues, same-sex marriage and stem cell research.
Schwarzenegger took the stage with the San Francisco mayor at a press conference to illustrate their bipartisan support for Prop. 1A, a state ballot initiative aimed at preventing the state legislature from taking local tax funds.
But, questioned afterward, the governor downplayed plans for a last- minute campaign swing for Bush, and instead praised Newsom as a "very, very strong mayor, and a good mayor."
Asked about a final election drive for Bush, a one-day trip to Columbus which sources say has been in the works for weeks, Schwarzenegger said, "I'm going -- maybe -- out of the state for one trip. We haven't really made up our mind yet." He said he would decide by Wednesday.
With just one week left until the Nov. 2 election, Schwarzenegger's statements in San Francisco Monday appeared a contrast to his highly charged endorsement of Bush at the Republican convention in New York City in September.

Governor, Newsom campaign to safeguard local tax funds
Schwarzenegger declares Democrat 'a very, very strong mayor'
More like "a mayor who should be in jail."
Somehow I doubt Schwarzenegger would look as kindly on any given California Mayor deciding to hand out CCWs (in direct violation of California law and usurpation of every County Sheriff's power) to anyone who showed up. Hell, Schwarzenegger would have probably sent in the National Guard to quell the Constitutional Rights uprising.
But some Girly Man starts marrying gays and Arnold doesn't see a thing wrong with it now.
Dear God, we need a real Republican in Sacramento...
CA: The Schwarzenegger Re-election Act - (Prop 62)
Between the socialist elites and the MSM marching in lockstep down Socialist Utopia Road, WE must take back the process... but Prop 62 and leftist approaches only ensure further deterioration of this state and nation's political processes.
Ditto that!
