KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
Andrea Mitchell has been really ticked off at Kedwards for the Mary Cheney thing. She was outraged at the VP debate and at Kerry. Maybe this is her little tantrum - to tell the truth every so often.
reading your post - Kerry's press release - gave me the chills...I started hearing Kerry's droning voice from his senate testimonies back in the 70's. the only thing left out was a reference to "Genghis Khan"
Sent to everyone. It's up to all of us to get the word out. This is an attempt by those who hate us to change the course of our elections.
Spread the truth by e-mail people!!
Pentagon responds to missing-explosives report (NBC report mentioned)
".."NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they [took] over the weapons installation south of Baghdad. But they never found the 380 tons" of missing explosives, the network reported..."
I say somebody on the ground there at the time trumps a Pentagon leak artist.
that's great to hear,.
I'm glad to see that someone was as upset and outraged as I was. I threw a slipper at the TV - something that I've been close to doing for the past week but never figured it would be at BRIT HUME!!! But I was furious that he would go on and on about this lie. What ever happened to "fact checking"? Rush knew it was a lie. Why didn't Hannity or Brit? No memory for the beginning of the Iraq war?
We knew that those who still supported Saddam would take explosives out of where they had been stored, and cover them up in sand - an attempt to keep them from being destroyed, and as we've found MIG's covered up in sand, it was a pretty effective technique. There was a lot of sand to hide whatever they wanted and I have no doubt that if we bulldozed the entire country (think about searching an area the size of California(!), we'd find more stuff that they just left buried in the sand.
But Sean and Brit falling for the NY Slimes front page lie? Unforgiveable.
Oh man, I would give anything to hear him say that!
I'm sorry, but I am going to ENJOY the long faces we're about to get a look at .............
Pure, unadulterated JOY
You need to go back and read the posts from the beginnig - there are links that confirm all
I wonder - Most of Hollywood crowd is deep into Scientology - they have some mighty scary goals about overthrowing the gov't - etc (I once got sent one their magazines...do not know where they got my name - but it was frightening.I didn't get information second hand but from their own publication. It was so bad - it gave me the willies and I burned it. Wish now, I'd kept it for reference!
Anyway, does anyone know if the hand gesture that K & ter-resczar give is connected to Scientology - or???
