KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
This is why I think that the press since they hold special privledge in the constitution should be able to be sued for malpractice ( the editors) and disbarred for this kind of stuff!
Yep Exactly how I was pronouncing it.
I can't stand Lou Dobbs. Many around here think he's great but I got his number years ago. I put him in the same category as David Gergen. yaack!
The best thing we can do is to get this out in any way we possibly can. Demand that this is covered. My gut tells me, if Lockhart has to respond, it's obviously NOT a good thing for them, that Kerry was caught exploiting an UNTRUE story.
ahhh-the photo on your post of Kerry 7 clinton...what's with Kerry's hand signal?
Drink up DUmmies! It's COMMIE red!! Don't sip, GUZZLE!
Amazing that the New York Times could not do a simply LEXUS-NEXUS or Google search before printing crap.
I don't think they will. Remember, the actual commanders who were there haven't come foward yet. Neither has Tommy Franks. I think tomorrow they're going to hammer Kerry.
I wouldn't fault the BBC as MSNBC still hasn't corrected the story NBC reported earlier. You'd think someone would pick up a phone to stop the embarrassment but even they don't tune in to MSNBC.
God only knows eh?, maniac?
LOL! No kidding!
don't you remember Kerry talking about how Bush was going to privatize social security as his "january surprise" just a few days ago?? It was all a lie based on a false story in the NY Times by a reporter who hadn't even attended the event. No media was there apparently.
AHAHAHAHAHA! Getting the windex! SKERRy: Kin ah git me a new campaign mgr?
Thanks for nailing "Oldbrowser"...pretty pathetic troll IMO.
The DU is down to second and third stringers...sad
One would think that any professional journalist writing that piece for the NY Slimes would have done a simple Goggle search to "discover" the basic facts of the story.
But then again, said bushSlammin' hit put out by the house of Jason Blair is not considered "professional journalism" ...
.. and they thought they had us stumped with their facile crossword puzzle!

Well, I would say it's "Hook 'em Horns" but they're not in Texas and even if they were, he wouldn't have a clue!
HA! First it was CBS with the fake memo's, and now it is NYT with facts purposely ommitted. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From today's press release from johnkerry.com:
George W. Bush who talks tough and brags about making America safer has once again failed to deliver. After being warned about the danger of major stockpiles of explosives in Iraq, this administration failed to guard those stockpiles where nearly 380 tons of highly explosive weapons were kept. Today we learned that these explosives are missing, unaccounted for and could be in the hands of terrorists.
Terrorists could use this material to kill our troops and our people, blow up airplanes and level buildings.
In May of this year, the administration was warned that terrorists may be helping themselves to the greatest explosives bonanza in history. And now we know that our country and our troops are less safe because this president failed to do the basics. This is one of the great blunders of the Bush policy in Iraq. ..."
Kerry/Edwards/Dems have adamantly maintained that terrorists were not in Iraq before we pre-empted. Since stockpiles disappeared prior to the start of the pre-emption, the terrorists had to be there before we invaded.
Conclusions:
1. Major weapon stockpiles did exist
2. We should have invaded earlier
3. Kerry has been suckered into yet another contradiction.
I hope and pray the DNC floats that BS in the face of the facts tomorrow.
