KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
lol
Yep! They sure do! They know who's taking care of them! :)
Thanks! (big grin!)
According to the AP story just hitting the wires, the Pentagon has now confirmed that a search of the depot was conducted both during and after the invasion and none of the high explosives were found. From the AP story this evening:
Pentagon (news - web sites) spokesman Bryan Whitman said coalition forces were present in the vicinity of the site both during and after major combat operations, which ended May 1, 2003 and searched the facility but found none of the explosives material in question. That raised the possibility that the explosives had disappeared before U.S. soldiers could secure the site in the immediate invasion aftermath.
Plus we have a VERY well liked Republican Governor :-)
Thanks- was not sure if they would wait til morning:)

Not any more. Not if any of the passengers has gonads. And you can bet they all will, knowing they're dead otherwise.
This is the dumbest thing about the TSA. Bin Laden will never be able to take over a passenger airliner again with box cutter. Even if he smuggled on guns there probably wouldn't be a possibility now that people know the result of a hijacking could be their death (instead of a flight to Cuba).
CANNOT THE SAME BE SAID OF WMDs?
This cache is less than .0001 of the explosives that we found in Iraq. That is POINT ZERO ZERO ZERO ONE.
In fact, we now know that this very small cache was GONE before our troops invaded Iraq.
DEMAND A RETRACTION FROM THE NYSLimes and the sKERRY campaign!
yup -it was baaaaaad.... -a forum filled with a myriad of uniquely depraved with a sprinkling of those innocent and decieved...
Okay ...I gotta say it
this is the umpteenth time I've seen "hugh"
My daddy's name is Hugh...goes all the way back to Hugh Ca·pet circa 938-996 king of France (987-996); founded Capetian line through intrigue and use of power against rivals
Something really big is Huge. ;)
Don't you just hate it when the NYT shoots another hole in their foot?
At the Pentagon, an official who monitors developments in Iraq said U.S.-led coalition troops had searched Al-Qaqaa in the immediate aftermath of the March 2003 invasion and confirmed that the explosives, which had been under IAEA seal since 1991, were intact. The site was not secured by U.S. forces, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
I can't view the video of the report but this article doesn't say what Drudge is reporting.
What am I missing?
The White House did not dispute CBS forged memos of President Bush ANG at first and you know the rest of the story....
Isn't that hand gesture something Satanists do?
Try IDZAP.com--it sometimes lets you get to sites that are blocked by avoiding the main site.
glad there's an explanation for this latest MSM attempt to bring down Bush.
You are right. This story surely cannot be ignored by the MSM. In fact, probably what we will hear is something like - The White House knew this story was false, but they let it play out just to make Kerry look bad. But the real question is - why didn't the NYSlime take a few minutes to contact someone at the pentagon to confirm the story before publishing?
