EIGHT DAYS ...

EIGHT DAYS ...

And the polls are still showing this election as a dead heat. At this point I still think that the race will go to Kerry. Two reasons. First, the intensity of the white-hot hatred for George Bush coming from Kerry supporters and the left is something to behold. Facts mean nothing to them. They believe that Bush stole the election. Don't tell them that every single recount in Florida showed Bush to be the winner. Don't tell them that Bush lost as many as 18,000 votes when people turned around and went home in the Florida panhandle when the networks called the state for Bush an hour before the polls closed there. Never mind that all Gore had to do was to carry his own home state. And whatever you do don't try to convince them that the so-called "popular vote" has no legal meaning whatsoever in a presidential election. They believe that Bush stole the election, and that, by God, is that.

Secondly .. this election is going to hinge on voter turnout, and the left is much better at herding people to the polls than the right. This is due to a basic personality difference between liberals and normal people. The nature of the left is one of collectivism. The dynamics of the left is one of group dynamics. The war on individuality has been waged by the left for well over 100 years, and the success is astounding. Liberals seldom think in terms of individuality. It's "the blacks" and "the children" and "the poor," and so on. They think in terms of majority rule -- the rule of the mob -- rather than individual rights. The common good is always foremost in their minds. People with this sort of "follow the crowd" collectivist mindset are much easier to stir to collective action, such as getting out there on November 2nd to vote, than are people who celebrate their individuality and independence.

On election day you will see unions, the bastions of group mentality, sending vans and busses around to pick up voters and take them to the polls. You won't see that many right-leaning organizations rounding up voters in this manner. When Democrats yell "stampede!" liberals start running mindlessly. Conservatives and (especially) libertarians start looking around trying to figure out where the noise is coming from.

When it comes to getting out the vote ... the left has the edge. If conservatives were as good at spurring their followers to action this election wouldn't even be close.

Problem is, I don't think this race is a dead heat. The president will win.

We need Christians to vote this time a around..When I was a pastor, I would always tell the people that it was their duty as Christians to vote and to vote their faith..I know their are some ministers that are doing that, I just don't know how prevalent they are..But in 2000, the Christian right, stayed home and probably caused the election to be closer than it otherwise would be..For those who say that politics are not the problem of Christians I would remind you that God told us that while we are here, we are to take authority and als oocupy the land, which means participating in things like elections, especially when one candidate supports the killing of the unborn..

At a relative's home yesterday I learned that the union's are pushing alot harder this year than in the past.

The SEIU is going house to house telling members to get out and vote (for kerry) and the Carpenter's union is at every job site passing out kerry bumper stickers and other propaganda.

The Carpenters are also calling their members on the phone in the evenings.

I think this guy is nuts....read an article the other day that hate is not a terriffic motivator to vote....Bush in a much better position to turn out the vote because of the strength of his support....besides the "hate vote is only about 30%

I disagree with Boortz. The big surprise this year is how the GOP and the Christians voted massively to support President Bush. Remember 2002, Bush was supposed to lose seat in Congress/Senate in the midterm elections and we did very well based on great support from the Christian base and the GOP grassroots.

Can you please post on this thread?

How to convince apathetic friends to vote?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1254795/posts

Christian woman was asking FReepers for advice on how to convince her fellow church goers to go out and vote. Some of them were expressing to her it was no big deal whether Bush or Kerry wins. I posted some ideas I could think of in post #58. I knew there must be something in the Bible about this.

Boortz is entertaining but, he is also a pessimistic thinker. Kerry is not ahead in any recognized poll and the GOP has a well developed GOTV effort this year.

New home construction is at historic highs, interest rates are at historic lows, building and remodeling is booming. How do the trade unions think things will be better under Kerry? As I've stated before, liberalism is a mental disorder which cannot be cured by huge doses of reason.

It doesn't make sense to me. Bear in mind that this is what the union leadership is pushing and not necessarily how the rank and file will vote.

Union leadership is historically corrupt, even still a surprizing number of trademen are willing to take them at their word and vote straight demoncrat.

From what I can dedeuce, things don't look good.

Today, Bush's 'up-in-the-air” gaffe is being plastered in all the papers. Yesterday, the story was that Republican staffers were 'apprehensive' although not yet grim! The MSMedia has greased the rails for Kerry since he won in Iowa... and has become a 24/7 DNC press-release.

Voter fraud is rampant in the swing states and the odds of challenging it have been made slim-to-none due to prior charges of Republican voter repression.

All the Republicans and conservatives I know say that they have never seen such a media assault against a sitting president since Nixon's last days in the White House.

I agree.
