LOS ANGELES Movie-goers have no grudges against Sarah Michelle Gellar (search). But they apparently have a beef with Ben Affleck (search).
Gellar's fright flick "The Grudge" got a jump on Halloween with a $40 million opening weekend to debut at No. 1, while Affleck delivered a holiday turkey on "Surviving Christmas," his critically drubbed comedy coming in at No. 7 with just $4.5 million.
The animated "Shark Tale," the top movie for three straight weekends, slipped to second place with $14.3 million, lifting its total to $136.9 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Sarah won't talk politics. Could it mean she is Republican like her husband?

Affleck may be getting work now, but his career is in decline. He's become a punchline, which is worse than not getting work -- and he'll have to do a "serious" role to get work as he ages.
She might not be a liberal.
Sarah M.G. is a Republican by the by.
Seasons 1-6 are. 7 is going to be released in November (moved up from February). A better SMG investment than a pair of Grudge tickets, an overpriced bucket of popcorn and a couple of cokes...
I certainly know for whom Ben is voting and that's the point.
LOL
And there have been far better Marvel movies, Daredevil and Hulk can be forgotten.
$102M??? Hahahahahah!!!!!! That's peanuts for a major motion picture! The film probably cost that much to make.
Will Ben's career survive Christmas?
*shrug*
It cost 75 mil to make.
Dreaded red-x!
She may be liberal, maybe not. She just seems to not be totally full of herself and shooting off her mouth.
No, I'm pretty sure that Christina Applegate (who has been in a rather impressive series of flops since Married with Children) has established her lib credentials. She probably just doesn't like him because he's a jerk and/or crappy actor.
The Japanese version of the Ring (original) wasn't nearly as good as the American version (surprise!).
I'll definitely see the latest version. It looks good and spooky.
"....Affleck delivered a holiday turkey on "Surviving Christmas,"
Who wants to see a christmas movie at Halloweeen?
Bad timing or Bad movie?
I think it made around $106 million. Daredevil was my all-time favorite comic book growing up (Frank Miller was the best), but Affleck completely butchered the role for me. I absolutely loathe and despise the s**thead for being such a dismal actor.
Sheesh, and I thought because he was tight with Silent Bob, he was supposed to be at least familiar with comics.
Seriously, why do people keep paying this guy to star in movies? Between this and Gili, anyone who goes to see Ben Affleck in another comedy should be gassed to death in the theater.

I dunno. Both American and Japanese "Ring"s were not as good as the book (Where the lead character is a man and the dead chick is actually a hermaphrodite). The book Ring was great but as the trilogy continues (loop, birthday) the story gets really gay. Juon (Grudge) is stupid in Japan and America.
That being said, the Japanese Ring is slightly better because of the music and the fact that it is just scarier.
Matter of fact, he will bring him back for the spinoff "Electra" which has just announced the contracting of its cast.
