SoCal FReepers/HRF: Let's C(if we see)BiaS
CBS 2/Studio 2 ^ | 10/24/04 | AnnaZ

First things first, I have to praise God for an answer to prayer...

During the third and final presidential debate, John Kerry, on the topic of the sunsetting of the "assault weapons" ban, said something that made my head want to explode:
"And most of the law enforcement agencies in America wanted that assault weapons ban. They don't want to go into a drug bust and be facing an AK-47.

I was hunting in Iowa last year with a sheriff from one of the counties there, and he pointed to a house in back of us, and said, "See the house over? We just did a drug bust a week earlier, and the guy we arrested had an AK-47 lying on the bed right beside him."

Because of the president's decision today, law enforcement officers will walk into a place that will be more dangerous. Terrorists can now come into America and go to a gun show and, without even a background check, buy an assault weapon today.

And that's what Osama bin Laden's handbook said, because we captured it in Afghanistan. It encouraged them to do it.

So I believe America's less safe."

Now as all informed FReepers know, the AWB had nothing to do with AK-47s. But his statement went unchallenged. And I begged God for a chance to rebut him, though I never thought I'd have the opportunity to do so.

Well, CBS 2-Los Angeles isn't nearly the same audience, but by a twist of fate I ended up in their studio against a Million Mom March (sic) rep whose opening statement put forth the same lie -- that machine guns were all of a sudden legal and that basically, because of that and, naturally, Bush, we were all going to die.

Mu-AHAHAHAHA.

Unless they've (shr)edited it...

Because if they haven't cut it, I basically FReeped Kerry and the Brady Bunch! Channel 2, 6:30pm tonight. If they did, I'll need your help, please, to FReep CBS (or, if a miracle did indeed occur, THANK them!).

AT KCAL, IT'S THE BOOBS, STUPID!

When the Lakers are on, KCAL news tries to keep as many of those male viewers as possible. During rating periods (November, February and May), their post Laker sex newscasts have been an embarrassment to many over there. Now that they've added Jackie Johnson as their weather anchor, they now have a double-double big breast threat, when you include veteran implant show-off Mia Lee.

But check how blatant they are with Johnson by comparing these two camera shots of her and anchor David Jackson. They were both part of a promo for the news that was run during Tuesday Night's Laker game.

Notice any difference? Jackson, a far better known quantity in Los Angeles, and who was only on camera for maybe 3 seconds, has his name plastered across his chest. Johnson, who is quite new to town, and who was shown on screen longer than Jackson, has no such graphic identity. Gee, I wonder why? Do you suppose KCAL made a conscious effort not to obscure Johnson's breasts? Do you think it's going to rain again before June?

Weather diva Jackie Johnson is raising temperatures on the Internet.

The WSVN-Fox 7 morning personality is poised to be named sexiest meteorologist by Playboy.com today.

The website has conducted polls for sexiest sportscaster and sexiest women's basketball star over the past five years, but the response to the ''Mercury Rising'' poll has been so great, editors had to double-check to make sure the site wasn't being hacked.

''We've gotten more than half a million votes in 10 days, which is absolutely incredible considering that we only allow each person to vote once,'' said Rob Walton, senior editor at Playboy.com.

Johnson's warm fronts and high-pressure systems have captivated viewers since she began at WSVN in September 2001 as the morning counterpart to chief meteorologist Bill Kamal.
