First things first, I have to praise God for an answer to prayer...
During the third and final presidential debate, John Kerry, on the topic of the sunsetting of the "assault weapons" ban, said something that made my head want to explode:
"And most of the law enforcement agencies in America wanted that assault weapons ban. They don't want to go into a drug bust and be facing an AK-47.
I was hunting in Iowa last year with a sheriff from one of the counties there, and he pointed to a house in back of us, and said, "See the house over? We just did a drug bust a week earlier, and the guy we arrested had an AK-47 lying on the bed right beside him."
Because of the president's decision today, law enforcement officers will walk into a place that will be more dangerous. Terrorists can now come into America and go to a gun show and, without even a background check, buy an assault weapon today.
And that's what Osama bin Laden's handbook said, because we captured it in Afghanistan. It encouraged them to do it.
So I believe America's less safe."
Now as all informed FReepers know, the AWB had nothing to do with AK-47s. But his statement went unchallenged. And I begged God for a chance to rebut him, though I never thought I'd have the opportunity to do so.
Well, CBS 2-Los Angeles isn't nearly the same audience, but by a twist of fate I ended up in their studio against a Million Mom March (sic) rep whose opening statement put forth the same lie -- that machine guns were all of a sudden legal and that basically, because of that and, naturally, Bush, we were all going to die.
Mu-AHAHAHAHA.
Unless they've (shr)edited it...
Because if they haven't cut it, I basically FReeped Kerry and the Brady Bunch! Channel 2, 6:30pm tonight. If they did, I'll need your help, please, to FReep CBS (or, if a miracle did indeed occur, THANK them!).

I'm still amazed by politicans who think that laws prevent criminals from doing what they're going to do.
When one studies all the instances of "weapon control" throughout history, the only profiteers have been criminals and tyrants. Period. One can only plead ignorance of this for so long, and thus must, after a time, be considered in collusion with either or both.

Oh, yes, an accident for sure. But, hey, still better than nothing at all. I do think they did a better job of balance than usual, and I got to call the (democRat) political nature of police-chief appointments for what it is (not to mention expose sKerry lies!).

Wimpy lib who hasn't the brains to hide a gun from her children.
You don't hide guns from children. You teach them that they are not toys and that they should be handled safely.
It's called responsiblity!

Just (at noon) got back from the KZLA Encenada cruise.
Sure hope someone taped it, it would be great to show at the next ATF Night and the Compton Hunting and Fishing Club!

I got to call the (democRat) political nature of police-chief appointments for what it is Indeed, great move bringing that up. It's not heard often enough. No municipality is going to appoint a chief of police or long endure a sheriff who doesn't buy into the leftist "guns bad" agenda.

Thanks for doing this.
It was a great opportunity to rebut an over-told/over-accepted lie. For that I'm thankful. And, ultimately, their audience is exactly who we as FReepers should be targeting. But regardless of more noble aims I'd rather never do anyone but FOX again. I've done the network and the news channel and each time they were great; not only balanced but fair as well.

Jackie Johnson Ping
So is that actually her name? Does the mention of it require pictures?

from Ron Fineman's site
If anyone suspected that new KCAL weatherbabe Jackie Johnson has a degree in meteorology, they can suspect no more. Rather, they may want to question whether she got a passing grade in math.
While giving rain amounts tonight, a reader pointed out to me that Johnson is rather confused about how decimals work. He writes "For areas that got .26 of an inch, she proceeded to call that a 20th of an inch. I thought maybe she misspoke, but she said it about 6 times, then when she got to .33 and .46 she said a 30th of an inch and a 40th of an inch."
I checked Johnson on a later newscast and saw the same problem. She said .39 inches was almost "a 40th."

The pic doesn't seem to point to why they hired her.
