What seems to gall many blacks is the fact that Hispanics are seen as being more accepted by white Americans then blacks are.
Hey if I see any man, black, hispanic, or white showing drive and industriousness, then they get my respect!
W should get the legal Latino vote, and New Jersey is a lot closer than in 2000. We will win New Jersey and Pa, and then the landslide will start.

Strange -- in LA, blacks complain that Asians are 'taking away business from blacks', in NJ they complain about Latinos. Now Asians are the most entrepreneurial minority and are bounding up the social ladder -- with no affirmative action. I think it's time blacks stopped making excuses and realised we're no longer in the 60s (some blacks probably already feel that way -- and COndi Rice and Colin Powell are perfect examples of the kind of NON-HYPHENATED AMERICANS we should become)
I think the difference is that the Hispanic population came to America to find a better way of life through work. While they keep their heritage they also realize they have to fit in with the rest of us as a whole. That is why the Hispanic lobby is very powerful. The black leaders such as Jesse Jackson have been standing around for years telling the blacks that they are down trodden, bad whitey,etc and they have not been able to move beyond that mantra. Jesse Jackson and his kind have done the black poplulation a great wrong for not helping them as the Hispanic leaders have helped their population.
I met a Black from the West Indies who said that he was attacked by an American born Black in the northeast Bronx. He said that he was self-employed, IIRC, and that native born Blacks resented and were jealous of Blacks from the West Indies because they were more industrious and prosperous.
Well, that alone is reason enough to hate them... /sarcasm...
Gotta love the FR mentality about race. If this were a thread about illegal immigrants cast in any light other than as victims of black criminals then the chorus would be the typical "go home" "moochers" "cars on the lawn, fifteen to a room" "law breakers just by being here" "drain on our tax dollars" "taking over the US without firing a shot" "what was that guy doing with $2000 in cash in the first place?" "learn to speak English", etc......but...make blacks the bad guys and this sentiment changes 180 degrees to "these fine noble hard-working folks with family values".....incredible.
I confess....I just read the title about the tension between the two.
Which having lived in Miami and elsewhere is no secret to me even though the hustlas try to lump anyone with a tan into the same victim group.
Colombia has a fair amount of blacks on the coasts.
Hmmmm....I have always thought Mexicans were the least compatible with blacks....from observing.
Someone said earlier about tension between Islanders and indig blacks here....toss in Africans too and yes that is true.

Many of those Hispanics we see in America have European ancestry. They are called Mestizo or Ladino. Hispanic is not a race, the original one were from Spain and are therefore White. Some Hispanic countries are overwhemlingly White, like Argentina and Uruguay. Argentina is 90 to 95 percent White. Many Hispanic countries have large non-Spanish population, like German, Italian, Irish, English, Scots, Welsh, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Dutch, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. As a result, you see non-Hispanic last names like in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, or Honduras. In fact, if you watch those shows on Spanish channel, which are often from Mexico, Venezuela, or Peru, many of the cast is overwhemingly White. Many Latin American countries had slavery and someof them were the last to abolish in the Western Hemisphere, like Brazil and Cuba.

Your post does nothing if not pointing out that racism is alive and well in Latin America (doubt that...just look at the events in Peru since 2003). The "white" (I'm not so sure) minorities run the show in Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile and Mexico. As a result Marxism has become a steady flame burning in the basement where the less "European" majorities dwell. This flame will become our "fire next time" within a generation.
The only reason you are not hearing that is because this story is very rare and it is about blacks commiting hate crimes. We seldom hear stories like this, so it gives freepers a chance to talk about another subject that is bad for America. The mentality that blacks should be given stuff because they are entitled.
Underneath the surface of white america is a subject that is taboo. We are not allowed to say anything negative about blacks. Blacks have been given more then their fair chances to move forward and they are not doing it. The influx of immigrants is proof. Its also proof that blacks can be and are racist.
I predicted 10 years ago that if the massive illegal immigration is continued to be allowed we will see a race war. "Mexicans are doing the jobs that Americans will not do". That is a lie and the worse part of that lie is that blacks are affected more negatively then other races because of it. After suffering through slavery and then a tough civil rights battle blacks have won their God given right to be equals and rightfully so. The bad part is that massive illegal immigration is robbing them of many chances to be productive members of society.
Black leaders should be screaming from the rooftops to end the illegal immigration. They are getting shafted big time. The political leaders in the swamp should spend time in prison for allowing this crime against the american people.
Those of us who want the swamp to stop illegal immigration would be wise to use the strong voice of black americans to put pressure on DC to stop it. This is more proof that "leaders" of the black community are just in it for the money. If they really cared about the people they would use the soapbox to stop illegal immigration.

Actually, both groups have been in far better shape since I got married.
I know about the racism in Latin America. It is very prevalent and alive there. Funny thing is no one talks of it here in America. I read and learned about it in class. Blacks and Indians are discriminated a lot in Latin America and are in the bottom rung of the social ladder. The Whites are often on top of the social ladder. My main point however was about how Hispanic is treated as a race, when in fact in encompass all race, who are from Latin America.

Indeed. How come wave after wave after wave of poor immigrants have arrived on these shores over the past 200 years, and all have surpassed native black Americans?
My grandpa came here speaking only Gaelic. He worked for the NYC Sanitation Department for 35 years. He raised seven kids. He stayed married to the same woman.
Now his descendents are doctors, lawyers, Ph.D.'s, scientists, librarians, teachers, professors, business owners,firefighters, and policemen.
What did he do right that African-American men have never learned to do?
I think most, including you, know exactly what I meant.
That comes as no surprise to me, and especially to my mother who has been subjected to lifelong anti-West Indian prejudice. I thought that the presence of various West Indians like Sean Paul would help that, but it really hasn't. It's been the constant theme in this country since I read what George Schuyler had to say about West Indian immigrants even in the early 1900s.
