Columbus Dispatch endorses Bush... had been unclear who they would endorse... offsets unexpected Orlando Sentinel endorsement for Kerry

how much do you think newspaper endorsements sway people? I'm just not too sure. But..... any paper that endorses the Pres is a friend of mine.

probably not much.. only thing that tends to make news is when a traditionally Republican paper (like Dispatch) endorses a Dem, or vice versa (as if WaPo hadn't endorsed Kerry)

"how much do you think newspaper endorsements sway people?"

In Ohio, I think they will sway a lot. It's amazing how many solidly democratic elements, from newspapers to life long democratic mayors are coming out in support of President Bush. And it's not just their endorsements, these people are making the case of why President Bush is good for Ohioans...and why Kerry wouldn't be.

First the Plain Dealer, now the Dispatch.....GO BUCKEYES!!!

Endorsements just keep the momentum going...they have a similar effect as the media annoucning early election results....i.e., people sway towards a winner and hold off going out ( as in voting) for a "loser".

As Martha Stewart would say, "It's a good thing"

I've been to Columbus.. it is a very nice, middle-class city... I had been expecting "Rust Belt", and was totally surprised

I've lived in Cincinnati and Toledo. Our oldest son and his wife are currently living in Toledo.

For some strange reason, Toledo seems to be one of the focal points for the candidates in Ohio...it gets hit repeatedly by both sides. My son and I talk often about how things are going back there.

Ohio has a lot of Democratic voting union members, and it's been through the economic roller coaster. But a strange thing has been happening there this year; a lot of straunch Democrats are saying "we are better off under President Bush". This is coming from life long Democratic Mayors who are well liked to traditionally liberal newspapers.

Sure, a lot of people will simple vote for the Democrat but a lot are listening to "their own" and it's making sense to them.

Yes, that's true. However, this is huge. The Dispatch tends to lean to the left, so this endorsement speaks volumes.

In appreciation, I will buy the Sunday addition tomorrow.

Kerry admitted to committing "atrocities" in testimony to Congress. This makes him highly qualified to be C.I.C. in the minds of far too any people in this Nation. Reverse it for a minute,,,if Bush had of done such a thing would he have gotten far in politics? His opponents in his own party would have outed him long ago. Doubtful if he would have even entered politics at all, except to vote.
