Blood donor has mad cow disease

By Elisabeth Rosenthal International Herald Tribune
Saturday, October 23, 2004

PARIS A patient who was a frequent blood donor is the eighth confirmed case of the human form of mad cow disease in France, the Health Ministry has announced, setting off new concerns Friday about potential large-scale exposure to the mysterious illness.
.
Between 1993 and 2003, blood from the patient was used both for transfusions and to make medicines, which were given to thousands of patients, health officials said. All were at least potentially exposing them to mad cow disease, whose route of transmission is still poorly understood, scientists say.
.
Ten patients are known to have received direct blood transfusions, which pose the highest risk. Far more received medicines like gamma globulin and clotting factors, which are made from blood, and whose level of risk is unknown.

This is sad -

Remember it's not the everyday citizen of France who acts against the cause of freedom. It's the radical part and the government radicals. And never forget what happened under Clinton - and the tainted blood that went to Canada - it almost always ends up harming the innocent ones - whenever a government becomes corrupt - no matter the nation -

just my thoughts -

No. It is the everyday citizen of France who acts against the cause of freedom. France is an enemy of the United States. It's citizens are enemies of the United States. Plain and simple.

Seriously though,I was not aware that Jacobs or Mad cow can definitively be transmitted via blood. The disease seems confined to the nerve tissue. The only way they verify it is via autopsy of the affected areas.

I suppose everyone will freak out anyway, and there will be a new/new minister of health.:-)

To lump a whole nation's citizens together and to put them all down does not make sense.

Common sense that is - in my opinion -

But you can say what you want - that is your right -

Cheers -

Have to agree, this is no cause for rejoicing. It's a tragic situation.
