Sinclair's "A POW Story", was suppose to feature anti-Kerry documentary “Stolen Honor”, instead a hacked up review of the role Vietnam and media are playing in the 2004 election was served up. WE WERE DUPED! . Based on numerous news stories, media hype, I was anxious to watch a documentary, asking the public to consider hard questions about Kerry’s betrayal of his country and other Vietnam Vets. Sinclair had my attention, but pulled the old “bait and switch” routine. Only short excerpts were shown from “Stolen Honor”, instead a format similar to “cross-fire”, with 1 or 2 people from each side of the argument giving their views. My wife and I honestly felt that this was more like a campaign ad for Kerry, similar to covert biased news stories on ABC News and CBS news that appear unbiased but clearly put Kerry as the hero. Sinclair called this “News Central”. News Central appeared more like a mickey mouse attempt to look and sound like a prime time news show, yet came off so pathetically amateurish, whatever the message, it was now a mere joke.

As a Vietnam Vet, I really wanted the message of “Stolen Honor” to be presented, and I was rooting for Sinclair Broadcasting for being willing to show the documentary in spite of intense pressure to not air “Stolen Honor’. My view is that Sinclair wasted my time, other news shows have presented clearer and certainly more professional editorials on the influence of Vietnam and the media in the 2004 election. Worse than a waste of time, Sinclair’s failure to deliver the show expected, makes Sinclair simply another carpetbagger network that can’t be trusted.

Not only that, they hyped up the 10 PM news with "stories and opinions of POWS", 2 of 3 people said it doesn't matter what happened, we must look forward". This added insult to injury. I agree with you, we were duped, I felt like I was watching another CBS, boy was Sinclair intimidated. The DNC must really carry a BIG stick!!!God help us. I am really starting to not like America anymore.

I agree. This was lame.

They spent plenty of time disseminating Sen. Rice-in-the-ass's Vietnam service and then threw is some weird crap about nobody knowing the full story of President Bush's National Guard service. There's all kinds of information out there confirming that President Bush more than fulfilled his Guard obligations.

Amateurish is the perfect word.

Agree ... what I watched this evening seemed mostly pro-Kerry ... to the extent I flipped thru the channels thinking I had inadvertently chosen the wrong show. Given the hype this one hour documentary (or, whatever you might call it) was a huge bust.

Go to the real thing, at:

http://www.buttondepress.com/BostonManifesto/StolenHonor.wmv

It is devastating. It's no wonder why Kerry and Mainstream Media don't want this shown.

I've heard from friends who watched the Sinclair crap and that's exactly what they called it - crap. Sinclair folded. And the American people are the losers.

While I am disappointed, I do not think Bush needed it in order to win. I am just sad for all the POWs and vets who did not get their justice. They will on November 2. Let's get this SOB!!

Hell, where I live (Johnstown, PA), it was advertised on the TV guide, but when we tuned to that station (8 Fox), it was some video show. They didn't even air it!! Glad I downloaded the video on line. I'll be watching it tomorrow.

It was total crap. We got "hood-winked" for sure.

This brought out NO TRUTH about Kerry at all. It showed only snippits of "Stolen Honor" and had more pro-Kerry stuff than anything. Complete and utter B.S.

Here is the copy of an email I just received from a friend who just saw "Stolen Honor."
"Just sick about this! Poorly done. Looked like some high school put-together video project. Some highlights in beginning, good interviews - lots of slaps against the Dems. and showed how paranoid they have been about this airing. But it looked like they let the Kerry people do the last 3/4 of it. Don't know if you saw it but here's my take and I tried to be objective.

Some very emotional stuff that showed how "heroic" Kerry was....leaning on his wounded arm, reaching down to pull out a fellow soldier while under fire....boats manuevering around, man going under water a few times, etc. Very dramatic. Would give fuel to the Kerry fans. No mention of Kerry not releasing all his military record

Parts referencing Bush were anti-climatic, rehashing of old question about AWOL. No serious retort to that. Little bit about his flight time record.

All in all, If one were a Kerry fan this would have been uplifting.

May not have done Bush any harm, but sure didn't wound Kerry either.

What a waste of my Friday night. I should have gone to Wal Mart! Or, hmmmm, had fun with my husband instead."
(end of quoted email)

My comments to Sinclair.

You cowards! You made the country believe that you were going to do a POW case against Kerry. You have betrayed all of veterans! Your puff piece, anti-war drivel was a disgrace. You betrayers of our trust and hope.

I sent them the nastiest email I have ever written-----complete with expletives and four letter words! I was more pis*ed than I have been in a long time! I asked them just what the he*l President Bush's military service, or lack thereof, had to do with the Vietnam POWs? among other things----most of them worded not nearly that politely.

Trying to expose the Vietnam-era Kerry was a mistake from the very beginning. Swing-voters and undecideds just don't care that much; all they come away with is that one man went and the other one didn't. It might have worked in any other election, but not this one.

Tell the creeps at Sinclair what you think of their hatchet job on the Vietnam vets and POW's, I already did, it made me feel only slightly better, but at least I did it.
