Longwinded Kerry Prompts Audience Walkout

John Kerry has tightened up his rhetoric on the campaign trail, but he's still sometimes too longwinded on the stump - even for some of his biggest fans.

Tuesday night, for instance, when he arrived in Waterloo, Iowa - Kerry kicked off a rally at the airport with a bang. But as he continued to drone on his audience grew so bored one of them actually almost passed out.

Story Continues Below

After launching into an attack on Bush, saying it was time to give him his "two-weeks-notice," Kerry almost immediately began to lose focus. CBS News.com describes what happened next:

"Shortly thereafter, Kerry wound up drifting, even after promising 16 minutes into the event that he would wrap up his remarks as an audience member became woozy.

"While the man was being tended to, Kerry told the crowd he was going to 'wind up ... because I don’t want to keep everybody late.'

"It eventually took him over six minutes of winding to finally 'wind up,' though several audience members wound up walking out, choosing not to wait for the end."

This dork honestly thinks he is so intelligent, so superior, such a star, who would NOT want to listen to him go on forever. It's the same elitist attitude that makes him think it is ok to keep people waiting. Nothing starts until he arrives, so it doesn't matter what time he gets there. Arrogant snob.

No wonder his wife likes to soak her raisins in gin. I might too, except I'd pass on the raisins.

I heard that a large crowd here in Minneapolis, at the Metrodome, had heard enough and rushed for the exits right in the middle of the big dork's rally speech Thursday Oct 21.

Estimated crowd of 20,000 (listed at 30,000 by the Red Star Tribune propaganda sheet), and apparently thousands of them didn't stay for the end of the speech.

Most likely they got tired of hearing such rousing rhetoric as: I have a plan for this, I have a plan for that, and my plan is a plan, that plans for making a plan to plan for the plan that the plan was planning for.

Funny, I think even Minnesota MIGHT go for Bush this year, but I'm not holding my breath!

Later,
papa joe

Hey, how are ya sweetie?

OK, NYC Chick, we have both made our pledges on here for months, mine to move to my little Ohio cave, if God forbid, Kerry is elected, and you to the Caymans.

Hopefully on Nov. 3, we will both be able to stay in our little corners of the USA, AND THEN, LET THE CELEBRATING BEGIN!!!!!....:)

I would fake my own death if I had to listen to Kerry for more than 5 minutes.

More than 5 and I wouldn't have to fake it.

How many times can you say "I have a plan"?

"I have a plan... I was in Vietnam... oh and by the way, Mary Cheney..."

I'm old enough to remember the 1960 race. I don't recall that Jack Kennedy, a REAL war hero (PT109) ever bragged about, or even mentioned, his WWII service.

Kerry spends a lousy 4 months in 'Nam in-country (I was there the full 12 months) and he mentions it all the time. What a jerk!

Apparently it's much more fun to look at endless flat acres of cut corn and soybean fields.

Or this Kerry Klassic "blah blah UN blah blah coalition blah blah top 1% blah blah..."

I feel like Charlie Brown did when his teacher would speak to him when I hear Kerry.

On the other hand, going to see President Bush is an electrifying experience! The crowds love him!!!!!!

I can vouch for that after going to some of his rallies! I was watching the news today and crowds at sKerry's speeches look dazed and bored (even the true believers positioned right in back of him). I also noticed people milling around and looking bored, suddenly flashing a huge, cheezy smile to get their picture taken with him and then just as suddenly the smile disappears. At W's rallies, people look genuinely happy and excited. Nobody has to put on a fake smile when they shake his hand or have their picture taken with him!

He was in Vietnam?!?! Well then, my vote has just changed!

Where did you hear that? Kerry should mention it during his speeches.

End of sarcasm.
