Longwinded Kerry Prompts Audience Walkout

John Kerry has tightened up his rhetoric on the campaign trail, but he's still sometimes too longwinded on the stump - even for some of his biggest fans.

Tuesday night, for instance, when he arrived in Waterloo, Iowa - Kerry kicked off a rally at the airport with a bang. But as he continued to drone on his audience grew so bored one of them actually almost passed out.

Story Continues Below

After launching into an attack on Bush, saying it was time to give him his "two-weeks-notice," Kerry almost immediately began to lose focus. CBS News.com describes what happened next:

"Shortly thereafter, Kerry wound up drifting, even after promising 16 minutes into the event that he would wrap up his remarks as an audience member became woozy.

"While the man was being tended to, Kerry told the crowd he was going to 'wind up ... because I don’t want to keep everybody late.'

"It eventually took him over six minutes of winding to finally 'wind up,' though several audience members wound up walking out, choosing not to wait for the end."

Oh my *wipes tears away*, I seriously haven't laughed out loud that hard in quite some time.

The emperor Nero used to lock the doors of the theater and have the exits guarded to keep his patrician audiences in their seats during his poetry and musical recital. One enterprising senator faked his death in order to be let out.

I would fake my own death if I had to listen to Kerry for more than 5 minutes.

I saw Celsius 41.11 this afternoon, and noticed that there was quite a bit of footage of him speaking -- especially during his anti-war heydey.

Back then, he had severe lockjaw and sounded much like Charles Emersom Winchester, III, from M*A*S*H*.

Other than being subjected to footage of this pompous gasbag, it was a good movie.

I swear, if he somehow winds up in the White House, I'm moving to the Cayman Islands. I just won't be able to take a steady dose of him on TV every day. At least Clinton, for all his heinous flaws, was entertaining; Kerry is a humorless dud.

How many times can you say "I have a plan"?

Almost as many times as he can say "Did you know that I was in Viet Nam?"

I have never heard of a political supporter walking out on a presidential candidate's speech. It has got to be a terrible sign for the democrat hacks running his campaign.

I have a nice golden cross with rosary beads on my wall that would make Lurch shut up and leave on time.

"I swear, if he somehow winds up in the White House, I'm moving to the Cayman Islands."

Lucky you! If I could go anywhere to get away from sKerry I think I'd like to try Australia. But since I can't, I'd have to settle on permanently turning off my tv. In all my days, I have never seen anyone so in love with his own voice. He just makes me cringe. But W is going to win anyway and sKerry and Mama T will soon be just a bad memory!!! GO W!!!

Kerry is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

On the other hand, going to see President Bush is an electrifying experience! The crowds love him!!!!!!
