I realize the listeners and visitors to NRANews.com are not necessarily a representative sample of gun owners. But they probably are a good chunk of the folks for whom the gun issue is vital.

And their reaction to Kerry’s hunting trip? Laughter, mostly. In particular, Kerry’s not carrying his own goose struck real hunters as a particularly non-hunterly.

Question to you all. Kerry said "I'm a hunter, I'm a gunner". Does anybody who does any shooting call themselves "gunners"?

My brother was a helicopter gunship pilot in Viet Nam. He had a "door gunner." I've never heard of a hunter refer to oneself as a "gunner." Kerry is such a naive jack-ass. He's so transparent, it's really pretty funny, except that he's a pathological liar from the school of Slick Willie University.

My own brother--a real hunter himself--said that photo-op was Kerry's "Dukakis in a tank" moment to real hunters, sportsmen, and NASCAR Dads. BTW, my brother is a Democrat who's "undecided" about the upcoming election. I'm not going to waste my breath trying to convince him to vote for Bush--I'll let Kerry & Company keep making fools of themselves and hope for the best. I have an older sister (Diehard Dem) who needles him already with the "Anyone but Bush" garbage.
