They must have made up their minds while watching the debate on TV.

Some Amish vote. Some don't. They generally vote Republican, though, when they do bother to vote. Some Amish vote for local officials but not for President.
They aren't a significant bloc of votes, in any case.

Amish are voting in northern Mi as well. My cousin works at the secretary of state office and says they've been registering for a month or so now.
It's not huge numbers but we'll take em.

I would love to see Bush/Cheney bumper stickers on the backs of those buggies!

I live in Indiana Co., Pa. and a local Republican politician got them all registered to vote about 6 years ago. Some of our Freepers may be familiar with Smicksburg in the northwestern part of Indiana Co. The Amish all registered Republican. I hope they will be voting in this election again.

I guess they saw the picture of Kerry on his hunting trip and it scared the to vote republican. Or, did they get a look at Terayza?
To: 7thson
Would this be the "buggy vote"?

So, will they be using the old-fashioned paper ballots with stylus, or will they use electronic voting, and thus damn their souls to Hell for all eternity?

Big Amish communities in Ohio, and Bush came to see them in the spring. Media is confirming what your wife is saying - they haven't voted in large numbers in the past, but they feel compelled to this year. They also own a lot of very successful businesses, so this could very well be a motive, as well as the moral reasons cited.
