Fulton County elections officials suspect they received as many as 3,000 bogus voter registration applications collected illegally in exchange for money.
The applications were submitted to the Georgia secretary of state's office in September by Unity '04, a national group working in Atlanta with civil rights leader the Rev. Joseph Lowery to register African-American voters.
A state lawyer forwarded two boxes of the applications to Fulton officials, with a letter warning that some of the applications appeared to have been filled out in the same handwriting and contained numerous errors, including incorrect Social Security numbers and addresses.
It is a misdemeanor in Georgia to provide false information on a voter registration application.
The chief of voter registration for Fulton County, John Sullivan, said he suspects the group might have been paying workers per application to register voters, which also is a misdemeanor.
In an Oct. 11 memo to his supervisor, Sullivan said the "fraudulent applications I believe were a product of greed, not an effort to affect the outcome of the election."

I really think the Dems have a MASSIVE fraud scheme ready to launch on Election Day. Not just in the battlegrounds either, in almost every state. They will portray it as all the common people rising up to throw out Bush, even in the "red states". The current polls don't mean anything, I know of several activist liberals who are convinced of victory and have implied this is why.
A "misdemeanor"? To undermine our society? I am not exaggerating to say that if our elections become convoluted and people are not allowed to select their representatives, very violent times are ahead.
Ought to be a felony.
Hmmmmmm, and recall, a few weeks ago, when there was a flap about "foreign observers" coming to the States to "observe" elections, at the behest of the Dumocrats? GA was one of their target states. I live in Fulton county (but in the part that is a Pubbie stronghold). How do I go about volunteering to observe also? This is all of a sudden making me nervous that they are planning to steal the Southern states (since there is no other way they would ever win them!)
Georgia requires a positive I.D. to vote. Having a voter registration card means nothing to the people working the Georgia polls. They match your Drivers License up with your name and address in the BIG BOOK and draw a line through to show you have voted. It appears to me that Georgia has a pretty good system to prevent fraud, except in areas where the polling booths may be on the take for fraud. Nothing can never be 100% fool proof, it's a shame to say that crooked people abound if it's in their advantage.
Another vote to create a national ID with picture requirement for voting!!!
