IN WHAT HAS TO BE CONSIDERED THE GREATEST COMEBACK IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS THE BOSTON RED SOX WIN THE AMERICAN LEAGUE PENNANT!
I predicted on an earlier thread that the SOX would win, and that President Bush will also win!
I'd rather see Bush win than my Yankees.
But in any case, a hard fought contest that was, unfortunately, won by the better team. The Yankee postseason has been an abortion on the whole, and someone's going to take the fall. First things first, Torre has to go. He no longer has fight in him. Next, Heredia, Gordon, Clark, and the like must also be on the next plane out.
Steinbrenner's gonna blow. This is a wake up call for the future.
Kudos to the Red Sox. Though I'd prefer they hadn't won, they stepped it up when my team simply rolled over and died. They did deserve it.
Irrelevant. I don't care about The Curse (in fact, I'll now be rooting against the Red Sox -- don't like 'em). However, boy, I did warn you some time ago that the Yankees would lose to Boston in the post-season.

I hate to be a stickler, but this does not lift the famous curse.
The Sox have had several AL Pennants - 1946, 1967, 1975 and 1986, for example. The curse re: the AL crown was dissolved in '46. The curse continues to keep them from winning the world series.
That being said its probably the greatest comback in baseball postseason history. Kudos! But the curse hasn't been exorcised just yet.

This is outstanding! Everyone in Boston will be too caught up in World Series fever to care about the presidential race.
I guarantee Kerry will say something very stupid sports-related quote that will be played over and over on sports talk radio stations across the country.

I live and teach in Japan . 99.99999% of Japanese followed the series and rooted for the Yanks because of Matsui . We watched the final inning at lunch time in the faculty room . Everybody ( except me) was practically in tears because Matsui and the Yankees lost !
Congrats to Red Sox Nation. The way they came back to defeat the Evil Empire, they earned it.
