Carter says American Revolution 'unnecessary'

Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004 Jimmy Carter: American Revolution Was 'Unnecessary'

Recently we described Jimmy Carter as the worst president of the past 100 years. We apologize.

He's the worst president ever.

In trying to compare the American Revolution to the war in Iraq, here's what the jug-headed Georgian said to fellow Democrat Chris Matthews on "Hardball" Monday night, according to MSNBC's own transcript:

'A Little More Sensitive'

Well, one parallel is that the Revolutionary War, more than any other war up until recently, has been the most bloody war we've fought. I think another parallel is that in some ways the Revolutionary War could have been avoided. It was an unnecessary war. Had the British Parliament been a little more sensitive to the colonials' really legitimate complaints and requests the war could have been avoided completely, and of course now we would have been a free country now as is Canada and India and Australia, having gotten our independence in a nonviolent way.

I think in many ways the British were very misled in going to war against America and in trying to enforce their will on people who were quite different from them at the time.

Does the catastrophic ex-prez really think the war in Iraq is bloodier than the Vietnam War, the Korean War, World War II, World War I, the Civil War ...?

Note to Jimmy: Canada did not begin to gain independence until 1867. Australia did not receive partial independence as a commonwealth until 1901. India did not gain independence until 1947, and all the Indians who were killed by the British would hardly describe their deaths as "nonviolent."

These people are crazy. Literally crazy. They are not Americans as I understand that term. They are some breed of multi-national humanist species that I can neither understand nor accept. They are not my countrymen and I can only regard them as enemies.

Did you notice Carter didn't even have the brains or decency to insist that the DNC not seat Michael Moore with him in the "Presidential Box" during the Demo convention?

Jimmy Carter meet Neville Chamberlain.

Chamberlain was a member of the Conservative Party. Please do not compair him to the Liberal Democrat Carter.

Canada was self-governing from 1840, and Australia long before 1901. It's true that if the British authorities had been reasonable, there wouldn't have been an American Revolution. By the same token, if the world had been flat, Columbus would have sailed off the edge.

You are correct about the civil war, but something is wrong with some of your figures and your math. Better check it.

You can go here to verify figures and compare combat casualties to non-combat/theater deaths.

Its clear that Carter does not regard the USA as special. How this guy ever was president is amazing. He is garbage, pure America-hating garbage.

The Iraq War has set a record, Jimmehhh...

It is the first war in which the GDP of our target nation soared in excess of 50% per annum after we began direct military operations, BUT....

You'll never see that reported on the SeeBS Evening Snooze...

Me watch?

I'd rather not!

They're rather biased, you know...

There's a reason why the US hostages were released by Iran on the day of Ronaldus Magnus's inauguration.

Yeah, Reagan threatened to turn Iran into a smoldering crater.

Mel Gibson should have waited until ALL the Frenchies came to help before he got involved in that revolution. What impact can one guy have. Everyone knows that most people in the colonies supported the king.
