I totally disagree. In some ways Carter was a godsend. If Ford would have been elected to his own term it would have been just as bad economically (remember Whip Inflation Now?), although Ford would have probably dealt with Iran harsher than Carter.
But the RINOs would have pushed for Bush I to run in 1984, while dismissing Reagan as too old. There wouldn't have been a Reagan presidency had Ford won in 1976. Plus voters got to experience the failure of a Dem presidency on hand with Carter.
Does the piece of traitorous filth formerly known as President Carter really think that "negotiations" would work?
Of course he does. This is the same moron who thought that 13 years of negotiating with Saddam Hussein were about to pay off.
Carter had extensive ties to the Rev. Jim Jones, which tells you what type of person he is.
So do I.
President Nixon ran as a Goldwater Republican and governed like a Rockefeller RINO.
President Ford governed and ran as a Rockefeller RINO.
But President Reagan, God bless him, ran as a Goldwater Republican, won as a Gold water Republican and governed as a Goldwater Republican.
If President Ford had been reelected in 1976 and been followed by yet another RINO, the Republican Party would be useless today.
"We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control..."
Geez louise.....can't this guy just leave the stage!
"we would have been a free country now as is Canada"
Newsflash for you Carter: Canada is no bastion of freedom, and what freedom we have was not gained without violence.
In 1837 there was a short and unsucessfull rebellion up here for more freedom. Although the rebellion failed to overthrow the undemocratic oiligarchy, it did spook them into making some modest reforms, just enough to keep the rabble from rebellion any further. Not much has changed since then.
I cant express the depths of my contempt for this so called moral Christian man.
I'll take Slick over this guy any day of the week.
Classic "Jimmuh Carta". There's a reason why the US hostages were released by Iran on the day of Ronaldus Magnus's inauguration. This is why he got his @$$ handed to him on a platter in the election 1980.
You are of course correct, and Carter has no idea what he is talking about.
Casualties:
Rev. War 80 months 4,435 deaths 55/month
Civil War 48 months 558,052 deaths 3,846/month
WWI 19 months 116,708 deaths 2,816/month
WWII 44 months 407,316 deaths 6,639/month
Vietnam War 90 months 58,168 deaths 526/month
Iraq War 20 month 1,067 deaths 53/month
When I first read this yesterday, I thought it was a spoof from "The Onion". Now I see that this sick pronouncement was legitimate and he was serious. What an America-hater! Those of us who remember the 70's (and weren't in Cambodia on a secret mission) felt that he was a well-intentioned religious man (at that time), but it now is apparent that his hatred of American sovereignty was cleverly disguised under the guise of his religiosity, but even that was a thin veneer that is now cracked, revealing the fiery hatred and contempt, and even peevishness of the real person beneath. A man cannot serve two Gods and it seems that Jimmah has picked his. What an utter fool.
Spectacular, self-immolating stupidity. Carter is amazing, if only for his abilty to take the completely wrong side of an issue nearly 100% of the time.
Not a good scenario.
Actually there's an interesting "what if" argument to be had here. "No taxation without representation" was one of the battle cries of the Revolution. The colonists (even though they were taxed much less heavily than native Brits) resented that they weren't represented in Parliament. The British take was that, instead of representing their individual districts, all MPs represented the whole empire. What would have happened to the revolutionary fervor if the Brits had simply said, "fine, send over whatever number of representatives to Parliament, and instead of considering you colonies, we'll consider you part of the British nation proper." At the very least, it would have undercut some of the support for the war.
Mark Twain was right. Carter should heed his advice, "It is better to be silent and thought stupid rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt".
mega JD ping!
They're not? I see a helluva lot more Rockefeller than Goldwater in today's Pubbies. Furthermore, who's waiting in the wings to take over when Bush leaves, either in three months or four years...Giuliani (sp?), Schwarzenegger, Hatch, Collins, Snowe, Chaffee, etc.? I don't see a conservative party to counter the CommieLib party...more like Liberal and Slightly Less Liberal.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
