Aol Straw Poll
Aol ^ | Aol

Posted on 10/19/2004 10:47:05 PM PDT by Vortexsg

This poll was reset october 1st and takes into account every vote up to the right now. Had to email them to make sure before posting. So this is a poll largely based on aol members but still striking.

Bush is leading by double digits in Hawaii in this "poll." LOL. He's also comfortably ahead in Maryland. And I am Osama bin Laden, and posting right here on FR.

So this has Bush carrying California too?

Or maybe Californians know better than to use AOL...

At the end of September Kerry only had VT and DC if I remember correctly. About 65% of the national vote too. I'll take either one! AOL users can't all be Republicans!

Like I said mostly Aol users(not handpicked for polling purposes like all the other polls) and well no disrespect but as a computer science major and all a lot of people who use aol are middle class people and a good chunk are liberals

I wonder why this is so out of line. I'm guessing that AOL users have a demographic that swings more conservative. Probably married homeowners with children.

Kerry told me by cell phone to just call it an American defeat, and move on, and so I did. Isn't that "outsourcing" line just great? Kerry is so smart. He knows that ragheads are worthless in a pinch - when it comes down to it. The guy is simply really, really smart.

Your assessment is correct IMHO, but the penetration of broadband is pretty high in California (and even higher in Alaska), and dialup is where AOL lives.

So that's what I meant by California not using AOL.

The sample size would seem suspect, and its probably restricted to lower middle class. Even with that population it seems odd that this poll would show Bush ahead in California.

I think the President will get closer to half the California vote than most would have though, but I don't think he has California wrapped up at this time IMO.

Well, yeah. In fact, I would have figured that AOL users would probably be one of the most liberal online groups. AOL management is core liberal. I remember seeing this poll a few weeks ago when every state was dark red. It really is hard to understand -- it'd be great if it happened, but the chances of Bush winning Illinois and Hawaii are not much better than the chances of me flying to Neptune for lunch.

Not only that, he was in Viet Nam. I'm sure you think heaven sent him.

It tells me if the election was held among only people who have access to the internet the President would win hands down... but all the poor, uninformed and uneducated masses out there that don't know that a mouse isn't this thing running around with teeth and a tail will probably vote for the Welfare State (Kerry). Any numbers there???
